Good product. I like that it ca be used for many different circumference size trees. I got it to stop woodpeckers from damaging my young live oak trees. It works great for that (if you put 2 or 3 of them on top of each other to protect the whole trunk of the tree).

For the past decade, the deer around my neighborhood have been out of control. They eat everything in sight and growing any kind of flowers or ornamental shrubbery is futile. In the winter, they get even more hungry and will even nibble on the bark of any sapling trees in our yard, killing them in the process. I got these tree protectors to limit their damage until the trees get big enough to develop thick bark.The tree protectors are made of heavy duty plastic which coil into place around the trunk. They're easy to install although you have to be careful to not break off small budding branches in the process. Once you get them into place, you can corkscrew them to adjust their vertical position on the trunk. I can't imagine deer nibbling around them so I'm going to say they're quite effective. My only wish is that they were of a brown or more subtle color because the white really sticks out.My plan is to use these only in winter months when the deer problem is at its worst. My feeling is that the plastic covering would provide a lot of habitat for bugs and fungus which would be bad for the tree.

Of all the plastic tree guards I’ve tried these are the easiest so far. They are print and easy enough to wrap around a hard barked tree. Would not recommend for soldier due to the scraping of the plastic as you twist it around the trunk. Durable and seem to do a good coverage job. These are in place against rabbits and deer in our yard, and out for the Minnesota winter. Will update later if there’s anything amiss.

There are four of these trunk protectors, in two different diameters.They are easy to apply and the slimmer one fits perfectly around the trunk of my still little apple trees which are otherwise in danger of being mishandled by my over-eager cats (or any other wildlife which may visit).In a year or so I can probably switch them to the thicker spirals and use the thinner ones for smaller trees.Besides biting rodents, they will also protect the trunks from sun and frost.Very recommended!
