Effective in getting pills down a dog but before I used it I needed to make some modifications due to the hard plastic tip had sharp protruding places. I felt this could lacerate a dogs/ cats mouth. I trimmed with scissors and a nail file after that I was basically satisfied. I bought a 4 pack some were sharper than others.

I have two cats that have health issues and get several pills daily. When I saw these I thought they might work like the (much more expensive) Bullseye Pillguns, which are great for larger pills. Unfortunately the prongs at the opening of these poppers--which are supposed to hold the pill in until you push the plunger--were sealed together on all four of the poppers I received. They looked like they'd fused when the popper was made. I carefully cut them apart, but doing so meant making the prongs a tiny bit shorter, which meant the poppers couldn't hold small or medium pills securely. Since this item was so inexpensive it wasn't worth returning, and I tossed all four poppers. I'm going to go back to using the Bullseye ones. Note that if you're using these for dogs and have to cut the prongs apart, they might still function if your dog's pills are larger than my cats' pills.

At first I was intimidated by the size and look of injectors. But they work so well with my cats, you may get one failed attempt for at least 50 administration attempts, and your fingers remain intact lol. You can also stack two small tube and give at the same time. I love this product and will be purchasing again.

These are rigid and hold any size pill or capsule well. Not sure I would recommend for cats because they are a larger diameter. But for a medium to large size dog they are appropriate. For the quantity in the package and price it's a good value.

Using for the tiniest size meds for pets. The 1st thing I did was use a nail file & by rubbing my finger across the business end of these, locating any rough or sharp edges, & filing those smooth so they don't hurt pet gums & toungues. 2nd thing I did was save the round cardboard that slides over the tip of each one. I wrote the name of which pet was going to use which pill pusher on the cardboard & dedicated which pusher was going to be for which pet on a permanent basis. 3rd thing I did was replace the the cardboard onto the ends of each pill pusher after using them to keep the plastic from spreading apart over time & usage as well as keeping the pet name on the right one. This makes a huge difference in keeping them in new condition & not splaying & spreading apart on the tips! It keeps them like new so the smaller med's don't just fall out as soon as you insert them. The plastic tips start spreading apart & become too hard to keep pills in them really fast if this isn't done.

I'm been using one of these to pill my dog daily for a couple months. I misplaced it so bought this 4-pack. A big advantage of this style of injector is you can load multiple pills (if they are small enough to fit in the end of the tube) and reduce the number of administrations. The one pill my dog takes that is too large can be stuck into the tines at the other end. Just remember to remove the cardboard collar to make sure the plunger clears all the meds. That said, this model (on the bottom in the picture above) is an inferior device to my older one (on the top). After just two days, the tines were becoming splayed and no longer hold the smaller pills. The plastic is noticeably thinner, the tines have sharper edges, and it just feels brittle when I insert the larger pill in the end. I don't think it would be safe to use on a repeated basis. Fortunately, I found the original. Look for models where the tips doesn't taper so much and have clean edges. It's worth spending the extra money.

I first tried this type of pill gun quite a few years ago and didn't think I liked them because of the size. About 6 years ago I had a cat that was close to impossible to pill so I pulled it out and decided to give it another try. Honestly these work much better than the smaller ones, protect my hands, fingers better and once I got the hang of it this type is the only type I use now. I'm able to get the pill or capsule farther back toward the throat and they withstand many, many hours of cats chewing on them when using them. I keep several on hand now and this was the best deal I found.

I think it's a good idea but the material is probably not the right one, as it's a very hard plastic and:1- it breaks the pill when pushed in2- the end is not safe as the edges are too sharp.I would not recommend it.
