The Jungle Dawn 40w Spot Mega Plant Grow Spotlight is designed to simulate visible sunlight and stimulate chloroplasts in plants in order to produce more energy for your plants to grow and thrive. This bulb is absolutely perfect for growing plants. The CRI (Color Rendering Index) is among the highest available in LED at 92+, and only uses 40 Watts but is as bright as a 300 Watt incandescent light bulb. This bulb also packs another punch: it has an internal miniature cooling fan. This bulb will work in any standard dome fixture, socket, drop light or clamp lamp. That being said, do not use this bulb in a double dome fixture in conjunction with any other bulb. The bulbs run the risk of becoming overheated. Do not set down flush against a glass top. I've used these jungledawn spotlights on my vivariums for several years now. They are super bright and the plants are flourishing! It is important to ensure that the plants you select can tolerate direct light, however, as I have seen some of my low light plants struggle but that is user error, no fault of the lights themselves.I currently have three of these lights on top of one of my 36×36×18 enclosures and keep two lights on another tank that has fewer plants. I use the caged ballasts so these lights are able to get sufficient air flow and haven't had any issues thus far. I trust these lights and will continue to use them. They are pricey but worth the extra cost.

So this light is powerful and may even be too much for plants that need shade. But... It's great. It is so bright and the spotlight is so strong that it will easily reach the bottom of my five foot cage to give light to my plants on the floor. It also will bring the ambient temperature of your cage up so depending on what you have that may be a win or something to be mindful of. You may need to reduce your basking light brightness, potentially.It also will provide an incredible realistic feel to your cage- it resembles sunshine passing through the trees. I used this in conjunction with an Arcadia led light bar and arcadadia UVB bar. Those light fixtures allow for app control where this one - unfortunately - does not. Literally my only complaint. In a perfect world I would have this set to ease on and off like my other lights but such is life. All that to say - big fan of this and if you want to add a lot of light to your cage and also raise the ambient temp, this will help with both things.

The light that this lamp produces is great, looks very natural and truly looks like the sun shining through a forest canopy like others have mentioned. However, it’s so insane to be how they designed the fan to blow all of the hot air downwards, directly into the cage instead up upwards and out?? Might not be a good choice for people with heat sensitive Chameleons. This light raised the temperature of the cage by at least 5 degrees and it’s not even directly on the screen, it’s hanging about 6 inches above to allow some of the heat to dissipate. This could have been so great. :(

This is really strong. It actually gave some of the top leaves on my money tree a sunburn! It also creates about a 3-4Degree gradient temp increase in my 18x18x36 enclosure which is perfect in winter and air conditioned summers. My crested gecko actually comes out during the day to bask under the lamp, which is nice to be able to see him.
