Sometimes it seems wired cheese slicers get a bad reputation because of breaking wires, but just try one of the "knife blade" style cutters and you'll go right back to the good, old wire slicer. This slicer isn't designed to be pretty, not that it's unattractive, it's functional with a grid on the bed to help you align your slices. And it's not made of some pretty wood or bamboo, but unlike those you can toss this in the dishwasher and be done with it!The little cheese utensils included are surprisingly sharp, but I haven't had the opportunity to use them. I mainly got this to replace one of those blade-style slicers and this wire slicer works so much better.

Slice two pieces of cheese and it broke, if i had the box i would be sending it back.

I tried to use this cheese slicer a couple of times for a 2 lb. block of sharp cheddar from Sam's Club. I took it super slow the 2nd time and the wire still came off after one slice, even though it was as tight as I could get it. There should be something to secure the wire at the handle end besides just pressure from being tightened because it loosens when using it for just one slice and falls off. There are also no instructions for wire installation (watched a YouTube video of similar item), and it was a PITA.
