I dithered about getting one of these tins for months. It seemed unnecessary, but when I paint, I tend to gather all of the color I think I'm going to use, then when I'm done I have to figure out where they go again. I finally ordered, and I'm so glad I did!I chose this waterlilies pattern to remind me the blues and greens will be stored in there. I was also planning on putting purples in there, too. When I got it, I was unbelievably pleasantly surprised that the back was purple with pink waterlilies! It's so beautiful, so now the pinks will go in here, too, making up my standard go-to palette. And I'm going to smile each time I reach for my paints just looking at the tin. There is no hinge to the case, but that's fine. With the magnets I can split the paints out if needed and just use either the top or the bottom when painting. The bottom is much taller than the top, and the top fits on really well. You won't have to worry about the tin opening up and clattering around if you're clumsy like I am.The magnets are adhesive, but the adhesive isn't terribly strong. Perhaps that's why they included glue points. A hit of white glue would probably also work well.I'm planning on mainly using this tin for paints I already have, but I'm excited at having so many pans I can mix paint into!

I bought these to build a few watercolor travel palettes out of altoid tins for gifts The pans are decent, not quite as thick or well-finished as those I have purchased from Jackson's and Blick, but way less expensive. And I suppose that the thinner pans means they might store a bit more paint. QC seems decent enough, all the exact same size and fit into standard half pan palette slots just fine. They also don't seem to stain badly, which is nice for cleaning and reusing pans. However, the primary reason I bought these was the inclusion of adhesive magnets. The magnets are okay, not nearly as strong as some tiny neodymium magnets I have bought in the past for the same purpose, but that is too be expected. However, the magnet adhesive is nearly useless. I ended up using super glue to attach the magnets to the pans.I would recommend these for the pans, but if you want the use of the magnets you should either plan on gluing them yourself or look elsewhere.

I bought these to add extra pans to existing palettes, and they work great. You just peel the backing off the magnet, stick it to the bottom of the pan, and put it in your metal palette. Magnets are strong enough to hold the filled half pans in place. You get 50 magnets, and 48 pans, so I have plenty left over after filling empty spaces in two palettes. Great value for the price.Edit one week later: the sticky part of the magnets holds for about 5 days before it falls off the back of the pan. Will have to use glue. Not really a deal breaker, but it is an extra step people buying these will probably have to take.

I think I read every single review on this product. I was actually hesitant as to whether or not it would be useful to me. Come to find out, it's perfect!I used the magnetic strips to hold the individual cups down. My set lays flat on my desk, so they do not fall out, due to magnet weakness. I can certainly understand how they could fall out if you move the tin from one place to another, including traveling with it. The individual cups do move around a bit but I haven't found that it has been an issue at all. I did to a color chart to assure the order of the colors, should one or more come out. When I need to replace specific paint colors, I only take out one cup at a time. When I spray the pallet with water, I do take care to wipe off any excess water off the tin. I don't know that I read anything about rust, but I feel it's better to be safe than sorry. I would definitely purchase another one of these tins, when I need to add more colors from tubes. A great buy for me!

These half pans are just the right size and shape for my watercolor palette. I have added magnets to my other ones and thought the included magnets would make attaching them simpler mainly because they are pre measured to fit the pans. Other reviews mention that the adhesive was not long lasting, well in my case it was just completely non functional and even peeled right off some of the magnets. Since I knew this ahead of time I only docked the rating by one star because it was easy enough to use double sided tape to get the magnets to stick properly and that's what I'd done in the past. The half pans are great for small travel-sized palettes or colors you use less of in your bigger palettes, and they fit well into my metal cases (also purchased from Amazon). I think I'd like to get some full pans at some point in the future for colors I use a lot of. The plastic is sturdy and seems like the pans will last a long time, I like that they are white too, I will be able to use a sharpie to write the pigment and other paint information on the sides as an extra reminder when the paint runs out or if I decide to change up the order of my paints.I do recommend these as it seems hard to screw up the half pans themselves, but with the caveat that you should expect to need double sided tape or super glue to actually get the magnets to stick.

Comes with 40 half pans, tin itself is a good size. I have about 24 half pans in it currently and still have just under half the tin full. Magnets stick well to the pans, and makes it very convenient for travel or just at home. Would buy again.

I appreciate the few extra pans and few extra magnets so that I can swap things out if I so choose. The picture on the front of the tin is very pretty as well. I appreciate a little bit of wiggle room that they allow on the lip of the pan.

I like the image on this tin but it is a little flimsy in design. The biggest issue is that it has actually arrived damaged. Both the bottom tray and the lid have rather large dints in them and the lid doesn't close securely.....possibly because of the damage. I'm REALLY disappointed, especially for the money. I have bought cheaper locally but they are much sturdier, just not as 'pretty'.

its the perfect size to fit all of my winsor and newtwon half pans and then some! as said int he other rewiews, the adhesive on the magnets doesnt work well. i ended up just taking some double sided tape and putting them in(the stuff you use to adhere that plastics to your windows in the winter for older and drafty houses. be warned this stuff WORKS. itll take some effort to unstick them from this stuff but your pans wont be falling out)the lid fits perfectly. not lose and not so tight that you fear your paints would fly out if you opened it.the pans are not like normal pans either. and added bonus is the foam that come insode the lid that helps add pressure to your paints to keep them in your pans if you have rattly ones. i ended up taking it out(its not glued or anything) and taping a swatch sheet in it.
