I’ve been using these for years for attaching microphone holders to C-Stands and other lighting stands. It’s always good to have a few spares stashed in the kit for video monitors and small lights… anything you need to attach to a light stand.

These work great and I will get more as needed for adding more equipment to our set up.I bought these adapters for the specific use of attaching all of our gear to a single lateral light pole that sits just in front of our large TV monitor.I used two to mount a camera “L” bracket and one to hold a small 15” LCD PC monitor. You can slide everything up or down, left or right, out of the way, it makes it so simple to position everything! Since they are so close to the face of the TV, I replaced the thumb screws with Red M-6 with re-positional heads.You can remove the set screw in the top if you need to, just heat it up with a hair dryer and use a allen wrench to take it out. I replaced one set screw with a ¼” bolt and lock nut for a special use.Now for my 5/8” light pole I had to grind the two sideways holes down just about 1.5-2mm and then polish them all with my dremel tool because my light pole had a small raised stop-ring at both ends. It’s very easy to do and only took a few minutes per adapter. The polishing is important so you are not scratching up the pole. Depending on your set up you may or may not have to do this. Just note out of the box it fits on every light pole end and light stand top we own just fine as it’s designed to do. Personally I like the tight tolerances rather then getting a product that is loose and unstable.

If weight is an issue, then this converter can hold anything with a 1/4 by 20 socket. Sometimes you need a small light stand to hold a small LED, and this adapter is perfect for that. I have used this to hold small microphones and fill lights without any problems. I like that I can now use my smaller stands and tripods (with adapters) and leave my big rolling bag and c-stands at home.

The fit and finish on these lighting pin adapters isn't the best, but they are functional. The opening that fits over the pin is offset to allow for a thicker section of material for more threads where the screw goes through the body. But this also makes the opposite side of the tube thinner. I've seen others like this though so it's probably not that big of a deal. They are just not as robustly designed as some others.The vertical fit was fine when I tried them out, though it took a bit of extra effort to get them on the pin in the horizontal position the first time. I believe there was a burr left behind on the screw threads sticking out that prevented the adapter from sliding down easily. Once I got it on though, it fit well after that and didn't hang. I wouldn't trust these with anything heavy on them, but for light use they are fine.

While I definitely prefer the CAMVATE design for this type of Baby (5/8" diameter) Pin Receiver with 1/4"-20 Male Thread and a 1/4"-20 Hex Nut, this is an a decent design and I can't argue with the price.

The 5/8" or 16mm receiver, or "bottom hole" as they refer to it, was machined too small. It appears to be about 0.5mm shy of the 16mm requirement. These adapters will require some machining in order for them to conform with standard 5/8 pin light stands, hangers, etc. This is a bad miss on possibly one of the most common Lighting hardware standards in the industry.
