I've had two units, the original and its replacement. Both had the same defects. Gain was not sufficient to drive my Shure SM58 (an industry standard mic) to usable levels. I swapped mics and cables to see if any problem could be attributed to my hardware, and the problem persisted. Background noise, essentially a crackling sound, was always present. I cannot imagine how people praise his product to the skies. I have a 25-year background in online radio (and years in terrestrial radio), and this is absolutely the worst audio mixer I've used. The second unit is also being returned.

Great mixer ....many effects and mic booster works great with a condenser mic.

For the features, construction, and compact design, there is no better mixer on the market, branded or unbranded. I use it for live stereo music performance recording and streaming, and it produces the results I need. From the metal case to the inputs and outputs and clearly better sound, comparisons to other mixers in this size will only lead you back to theK-500 by New Baxs!

This review is for the NEW BAXS brand of audio mixer/interface. For a 5 channel mixing board at the price point this is, I'm impressed with the robust construction and functionality. The only negative aspect is a lack of dedicated USB interface for sound output to a computer. The USB-A interface is for playing MP3s I assume as for an over-track to whatever is being recorded. I did happen to have an XLR to USB-C cable lying around collecting dust so I tried that as a PC interface which worked admirably. So as of right now my main application is to use a small fraction of the functionality to perform room acoustic analysis with my condenser mic. But this board will do quite a bit more. Highly recommend.
