What is relay?

The relay in a car is an essential electrical component that greatly supports the electrical performance of the vehicle. This relay is an electrical component that consists of two parts: the coil and the contacts. Every car today is equipped with relays to streamline the flow of electrical currents

1002

Why Should relay Be Serviced?

A faulty vehicle relay or circuit may create an intermittent fault or a continuous hard fault no matter what circuit it may operate.

1003

When Should relay Be Serviced?

To check if a relay is faulty, you need alligator clips, test leads, and a benchtop power supply or a 12V battery. Relays can be found under the hood inside the fuse box or under the dashboard, depending on the relay you want to find.

Checking a relay involves connecting pins 85 and 86 to a battery or power source. As the circuit is completed, the relay should make an audible click.

An easy way to check if a relay is bad is to replace a relay with a new unit, if you have one lying around. But be careful: just because a relay looks the same doesn’t mean it’s the right one. If the part works with the proper replacement relay, then the previous relay is faulty.

1004

How dose relay work?

Car relays can generate magnetic force through the coil, which is passed by an electrical current. The magnetic force generated by the relay coil will connect terminals 30 and 87. This happens because the magnetic force on the relay coil pulls at the contact point. This pull makes both terminals connect automatically

It's a solid state flasher, literally plug and play. And I mean that literally. On my old 2nd gen Ram, the flasher is accessed from the driver's side of the dash behind a small panel. No crawling underneath to find it, you can see the panel as soon as you open the door.Pull the old one out (mine was stiff from being in 26 years), plug the new one in and away you go.

I ordered this relay to replace my existing one, as I use both halogens and LEDs for my turn signals. Previously, when the halogens came loose, the LEDs would flash rapidly.Installation was straightforward—I followed a YouTube tutorial. The relay is located behind the fuse panel near the steering wheel. When looking at the fuse panel from the driver’s side, imagine it extending about two inches further left. The flasher is positioned behind that extension, near the footbrake – not easily accessible from the access panel. This relay fits perfectly and ensures my turn signals flash at a steady, consistent pace, even without halogen bulbs installed. Great solution!
