I have an 18ft powerboat, a classic made by the old American OMC Corporation. The ignition switch did not have the safety feature this one has, a kill-switch built in. If I were operating and I left the skipper’s seat while underway, the lanyard would pull out and the engine would stop. This would be absolutely essential if I ever were to go overboard! That’s it’s real purpose. It could be a life-saver.It works well. Installation may be a little difficult as, on my classic boat, I had to figure out which wire went to which post on the back. Not too difficult though.

The box was damaged and the switch/ keys were missing. Only the kill cable was in the bag.
