How to Check for Fuel Tank Leaks:

  • Inspect the Air Inlet: If the fuel tank has an air inlet, ensure it is clear and unobstructed.
  • Examine Fuel Line Connections: Check all connections along the fuel line for any signs of wear, cracks, or looseness.
  • Prime the Fuel System: Squeeze the priming bulb until it becomes firm, then maintain pressure on the bulb for a few seconds.
  • Check for Leaks: Visually inspect each fuel line connection, from the fuel tank all the way to the carburetor, looking for any fuel leakage.
  • Understand the Risk of Leaks: Even a small leak can allow fuel to escape, disrupting the fuel flow. This can lead to engine malfunction, as air is drawn into the system, causing improper fuel-to-air mixture and potentially stalling the engine.
