I read a bunch of reviews with concerns of rust and some with oil. Some of the discs had some rust but not surprised since these aren’t made in the US.The included o-rings sucked, but they help keep the discs in place. This kit was perfect for rebuilding an NP205 transfer case. The largest fit the large races perfectly. The smaller drove the shift rail seals equally well.Back to the rust. There was surface rust on some of the discs that cleaned off fairly easily. I light coat of WD-40 should prevent additional rusting. This kit is great for a garage mechanic with a disc distribution to be able to set most races and bearings.

As a professional auto mechanic there are a lot of tools I have that almost never get used so I am hesitant to buy some tools. This bushing driver kit has already made my job easier therefore making me more money so I am very pleased with this purchase. I have so far only used it as a seal driver but what a difference it made in installing spark plug tube and VVT solenoid seals in a set of Ford valve covers. This is the type of tool I won't use daily but when I need it it's invaluable.

This kit has something for every size bushing and allows stacking two inserts for proper alignment. A keeper.

I like the way you stack the 2 discs to customize the driver to just about anything. The only issue is the edge on the inside of the discs is sharp and tears up the rubber o-ring right off the bat. They give you extras but the edge should have been eased.

It makes no sense to me why they put a O-ring on the end of the driver and a O-ring slot in the hole of the disc. Neither the O-ring on the driver are the O-ring grove in the disc line up. They send a few extra O-rings I understand why, they tear up after a few uses. The fit of the disc to the driver is sloppy I will make a new driver for it to do away with the sloppy O-ring set up. All in said and done I like it other than the sloppy O-ring retaining deal. That's why I gave it only 3 stars. I can see where it will get me out of a jam down the road

The kit works as follows: You pick two of the discs, one to go on the inside of the bushing, and a second one that is the right size to exactly reach the edge of the bushing you're installing. You put these two discs onto one of the two installer posts and then screw on the hex-head bolt (hex key included) to secure the discs onto the post. You then drive the bushing home by either hitting on the end of the post, or putting a flat-ended tube over the post and hitting on the end of the tube. There's no interlock between the discs, so there are literally thousands of possible configurations for the inner and outer disc selections. There is an o-ring on one of the installation shafts and the kit includes a couple of extra o-rings not shown in the pictures. The first time I used the shaft with the o-ring, the inside edge of one of the discs cut the o-ring and it split upon removal despite spritzing it with a bit of WD-40 beforehand. I don't really see the point of the o-rings, so I'm going to stop using it/them at all and if I figure out a reason that makes them helpful, then maybe I'll try again rather than splitting them all.I used this kit today to install two axle seals in a Jeep WJ. They made the job very quick. I would have used this to install bushings in a transmission that I rebuilt a few months ago as well, if I'd had it at the time. The quality of the materials seems good and their finish is very good with no sharp corners and all components fitting together precisely. The case is nice and secures all the components so that it can be carried around without knocking all the parts around or mixing them all up. It's a bit heavy, but to me, that says it's going to be durable.I'm thrilled with this kit after one use and wish I had purchased it years ago for all sorts of bushing and seal installation tasks. This isn't the sort of tool that I'll use daily, but for driving in seals and bushings, it is now on my shelf, ready to go to work the next time I need to install a seal (which tomorrow, actually).

I bought this to install races and seals in restoring a 40 year old Kubota steering box that had self-destructed. They worked splendidly, and the reviewer giving three stars citing sloppiness due to the O-ring mounting feature has apparently never manually installed bearings before. The O-ring allows a few degrees of misalignment of the primary bushing to drive in the race, while maintaining concentricity of the pilot bushing.Maybe somebody rolled this thing (L-285) in a previous life, because the steering tube was pretty badly whacked. So I needed to determine how badly it was damaged, and needed to put it "between centers". As it happens, the 39mm bushing just fit inside the tube end, and allowed a firm mounting in a 3-jaw on one of my lathes, with a live center at the mounting foot end. This will end up being a hydraulic press straightening job, but the "between centers" on the lathe was a five minute job. Sweet!I should have had this bushing set 45 years ago. How many times have I needed to secure thin walled tubing on a lathe. The 39mm bushing was almost perfect. Having an assortment of bushings with 1mm increments is just plain awesome. If you do thin-wall smaller diameter tubing on a lathe, this set will become invaluable. Five Stars!
