These lathe chucks are machined to percussion. The machining is nice, the clamping nut is smooth when you unscrew it. The finish is smooth and shiny. They take the collet with precision and easy to tighten. This set is great because I have several bits ready to go and interchange. Makes the job go smoother. A+

If you're a machinist, you know there's tools you would use on customer stuff and there's shop stuff that gets used on the quick and dirty stuff.I'd use these on customer stuff. Minimal runout, nothing earth shattering. Easily compensated for. At this price point, I'd expect and deal with more. Smooth clamping, easy to attach and remove. I didn't witness any tool slip at high RPM or at low/high torque.Would I have purchased these? Probably not, unless I was in a pinch or on a late night amazon binge. Would I now? Absolutely. These are the gems that your buddy found cheap.
