This knock box replaces a smaller one I had with a broken bar across the center. This one is large enough I can knock the puck out with the front of the portafilter to the bar instead of the middle. When I had to do it in the middle of my old smaller one the puck would fall out and then get hit by the next tap of the portafilter, which often sent pieces flying outside of the box. This one is large enough that hasn't happened even when I've hit the portafilter squarely on the bar. The bar on this one isn't as springy, and maybe that is good. My last one, the bar got cut away at with the box edge and didn't last long. Maybe this firmer bar will hold up to knocking out the coffee pucks. It also seems to make the puck fall out easier with fewer taps. So far, I'm impressed with this one. I wish it were smaller, so it fit on my counter, but I've been storing it on top of the bean hopper instead since it fits there. Overall, this is a very nice knock box with a large capacity and a good footprint. It seems like it will hold up a lot longer than my previous one and resolved the two issues I had with the smaller one.

This is a really great knock-bucket. I recently got an espresso machine, and the knock bucket it came with was way too small--fit under a week's worth of pucks in it. This one is much larger, and cuts down on the need to empty it out. It's sturdy, quiet when knocking out pucks, and doesn't move. No complaints

The rubberized knockbox is perfect for clearing out grounds. The size and placement of the bar prevents my filter from popping out and there's enough space in the box to catch plenty of grounds that I just take right to my composting bin.It's the perfect final "thing" I needed for my espresso machine

This knockbox is heavy with a nonslip bottom so it won't slide around the counter. It has a removeable bar across the top for easy cleaning. Being made of a rubber material it's fairyly silent when in use. Due to its large size you can get several uses before having to empty it.

Until I got this, my "knock box" has been an empty 48 ounce yogurt container. That was free, and this is $20. Is it worth it? The removable bar of this knock box certainly beats the edge of the yogurt container, which would occasionally buckle, resulting in pieces of the puck flying onto the counter. It's a bit more elegant on the counter. It's far more sturdy. And it stays in place on the counter without having to hold it down, unlike the yogurt container, when knocking out the puck. The added bonus is the tamper mat, which sits on the counter edge. Since I use a spouted portafilter, the mat is great and has replaced the dish towel that I'd used to protect my countertop. So while the combination is more expensive than the yogurt container and dish tower I'd been using, it's definitely a step up in functionality.

I admit that I was worried that this knock box would not work as expected. The knock bar is positioned in the middle of the container. I was worried that knocking my portafilter on the bar would cause the puck to fly all over and make a mess. I'm happy to report that this is not the case. The bar allows the puck to fall to the back of the container, and if you use a puck screen, it allows enough room for you to reach in and grab it before knocking the coffee puck into the container. The size of the container is great and accommodates plenty of pucks. In addition, the grip on the bottom of the container keeps it from slipping. The bar and the container are sturdy and great quality. They are strong and rigid, and they look great. As a bonus, the tamping mat hugs the corner of your coffee bar counter, and it provides a nice, clean surface to tamp your coffee grounds. This entire bundle is well-thought out and good quality. I am very pleased.

This knock box has already replaced a highly recommended name-brand box (amongst home espresso enthusiasts, that is) that was two times the price for the box alone. What I like most about this design is that its big enough to knock the edge of one of the portafilter ears on the center bar, so the puck drops out in one knock, rather than several, and in one piece, rather than splitting it in half over the central bar. Yet, the shape of the box makes it seem smaller than it is, rather than dominating the space. It has a large footprint, so it really is a trick of the eye. It’s not overbearing and ugly, like many XL knock boxes tend to be. Another thing I really like is the removable, highly cushioned center bar. That it is removable makes it super easy to clean, without needing to resort to special tools like bottle scrubbers, to reach the corners. The cushioning should improve longevity of both the box and the portafilters, especially since the center bar is usually the first point of failure on a knock box.Although I often dislike branding of any kind, it works here - the company name in 3-D looks great - it’s bold, in your face, and the font is cool.The bonus tamping mat is minimalist but very useful, and together they make for a very nice set, perfect for gifting. Highly recommended!
