OK, my bad--I should have read the dimensions. But I was expecting something a little larger, more like a plate than a coaster. These are coaster sized. Very pretty, but definitely small.

These are not, I’m my opinion, large enough to eat a meal off of, but great for dessert or snack foodsThey are shiny and look like ceramic, no Melamine at all - I like the raised base, as shown, that help balance the plate and keep it from tipping or moving around - great ideaSo far they seem to stand up to being scraped by a fork, etc, time will tell - highly recommend

We love these plates. They are salad plates but we like to use them for dinner. They are cheerful, lightweight and easy to clean.
