I used to work in the culinary industry 20+ years ago and loved my Dexter Russel chef's knife. I finally had to replace it and came back to this. Super comfy grip and very sharp. Becoming a favorite for sure.

Pretty good so far after about 3 months. One small chip near handle but still works well. No rusting. Love the easy-to-hold rubber (?) handle. Length is just right. I have had to sharpen it 3 times. I have never put in a dishwasher and never will. Not heavy which means it is easy to use but I wouldn't try to crack a garlic clove with it on its side or expect it to last forever. So far so good though. I do dry it by hand and place in wooden slotted drawer after using. I do not let it sit out in a pool of water to air dry. Update: still love this santoku Knife after many months. Far less dangerous to use than a chef's knife because this knife is shorter at 7' and not as pointy. Also the rubber grip handle makes all the difference in safety of use. Also, it's light weight. I never get tired of using it although I do use different knives for cutting different items. I would buy again especially the black one which is far less expensive than the same knife in white and because the black handle doesn't show the discoloration stains like when using fresh turmeric. I have not had to sharpen it lately.

I really like it. It's perfect. I ordered a victorinox plastic sheath for it. So far so good especially for chopping fruit like pineapple as it doesn't get slides off the knife well. I've a chef knife for quite a long time. It fits in the hand nicely as well.

Expensive knife but you will not regret buying it. Love the way it feels in my hand and the grip somehow helps me feel safer using it. Size is just right and it cuts great. Made in America is cool too!

My favorite kitchen knife. It has a solid feel, like full tang construction. It has a strong spine and a sharp carbon steel blade that sharpens easily and holds an edge.

I could easily recommend another affordable knife that would rival this. But I have to say that this chef's knife will do everything you ask. First, the grip is awesome. Second, you can rock this blade easily dice, julienne, smash garlic, and cut through chicken bones. However, do not expect it to be a lifelong friend. For the price, it is a great knife. But in daily usage, I give it 2-3 years. So, plan to replace it...it's worth it.
