This is an excellent speed square for precise measurements. This one would be better for finish work, rather than framing where you're looking for precision. I really like the holes that are spaced on 1/8in increments – this allows you to slide it along the work piece to mark a line that is parallel to the edge. That’s a nice added feature I haven’t seen in most of these speed squares. Would recommend.

The speed square is well made, clearly marked, and nicely machined. The fact that it comes with a lead holder and loads of various leads is a total bonus, and makes this kit a huge value. 5/5

The Artymaster 8 inch speed square has an easy to read scale and precise holes for scribing, which makes marking and measuring straightforward and easy. The aluminum alloy construction feels durable and very lightweight. The included pencils and refills are a nice touch for quick marking on the job.

This device has been a lifesaver as we build shed storage shelves and a yarn cart for me. It is beautiful, sturdy and so full of useful features like its edge that allows one to put the pencil that comes with it, in a hole and you draw a straight line riding right down the board. Perfectly. So good for 90 degree angles but does 45's just as fast. I don't know how many other ways we will use it, but I am so glad we have it right now!

This is a decent square for the price. Comparable items at HD or Lowes are in the $15-20 range and this kit includes a decent marking pencil.Overall, this square is more of a cabinet makers square as it is missing some of the features you see on a typical speed square used by framers (hip/valley marking, run/rise marking) but for most folks this is not an issue. It does however, include easy to use edge marking dots are available to easily make parallel lines off the edge of a board. All measurements are accurate and the angles are correct. It is also square, which is not something you should assume with these off-brand tools. One thing to note is that this an inch larger than standard speed squares, which are typically 7 inches. It is not an issue, but it does make it a less portable and probably wont fit in a tool belt pouch. The included pencil works well and is clearly a copy of the Pica Pencil. However, it does not include a scabbard like the Pica has, which make it a pain to clip to your tool belt. Otherwise it works great and works well with this square.Given the price point, its a decent deal.

Another fine tool by Artymaster! This is the 3rd tool I have got from this brand and like the other two tools, this one is nicely finished, has accurate scales and is square. Besides getting the square, you also get a mechanical pencil with a built in sharpener and two containers of refills.I really like how this square uses marking holes instead of slots however I noticed that if you use the included pencil in these holes, the pencil needs to be fully sharpened to fit through the hole enough to leave a mark on your work piece. This is because the lead size used in the pencil is wider than the holes in the square. Not that big of a deal as I didn't get this square for the pencil and maybe it was designed that way but I find it odd. I feel it would have been better to size the hole to perfectly fit the diameter of the lead.Overall, I am super happy with this square and think this is a tool brand to keep an eye on to see what else that bring to the market going into the future. I don't know about you but I am all for quality tools that are accurate and fairly priced like these.

I ordered this 8 inch speed square by ArtyMaster to replace an old 7 in rafter square. The old one bugged me a bit because it has molded measurements so there are ridges along those ticks which can get in the way of scribing perfectly straight lines. I've attached a side-by-side picture for comparison. This ArtyMaster speed square has a few things I see as significant design advantages:- The edges on all 3 sides are perfectly smooth. The tick marks are laser etched so it doesn't have any grooves.- The perpendicular lip has measurements as well, which is crucial to have as a ruler on-hand since the measurements on the vertical side start at the pivot point and never at the edge. I learned this the hard way with my old square.- The holes at graduated marks are super useful for drawing precise location lines by guiding the square along the edge of your wood, rather than having to mark a point and then drawing lines separately. As for the pencil, very useful additional item to have but one annoyance I did have is that I had the hardest time removing the attached sharpener. The included instructions say to push down and rotate, but that is incorrect, as well as the indicated direction printed on the top. After nearly stripping the skin off of my thumb, I decided to spin it in the opposite direction and even though that was really stiff as well, I was able to finally get it off. You don't need to push down on the top button, just screw it off counter-clockwise as it's attached on to the pencil with a threaded screw design.Overall I'm very happy with the purchase. The speed square is thick and heavy with sturdy aluminum construction. This should last me for years to come on many different projects.
