This monocular has an actual magnification of 8x, meaning it can enlarge objects up to 8 times their original size. As for the 80x magnification advertised, please note that this refers to the magnification level achievable only when the monocular is used in combination with a smartphone camera lens that has a magnification of 10x. In other words, the telescope alone cannot reach 80x magnification, and it requires additional assistance from a smartphone camera lens to achieve this level.

This has a 60% better magnification than my 7x35 binoculars. A large bush 30-40 yards away fills 50% of the view in my binoculars, and fills 80% of the view in this product. If you're buying it based on the ads that show a distant view, in focus, that zooms in, still in focus, to a magnified view, still in focus, it doesn't do that. You aim, and then use two rings to bring the blurry area into focus, just like binoculars. The degree of zoom in the ads is not the reality. The ads use a high-powered, mounted device with adaptive optics, with motorized zoom and focus capabilities. Just know that this is not that. While a decent product, rated it two stars due to the deceptive ads.
