TOMOON General 990-53 Solenoid Valve Assembly Water Inlet Valve Humidifier Filters
This is a 24 volt, AC electrically-operated valve that turns the water on and off to your humidifier. Preinstalled inside of the valve is a strainer screen, which filters the water before it passes through the valve, catching things like sand and dirt which could otherwise cause blockage. This valve needs to be replaced about every ten years, or more often if it fails and is stuck open or closed.
(Note: This valve operates on 24 volts, however some units are equipped with a 115 volt solenoid valve. Look closely at your old one to see what voltage it is rated at before ordering this valve. This item can be mounted on the left OR right side of the humidifier.
Don't pay attention to the version, orifice size, part number or wattage printed on your old valve. The production of this item has been changed regularly so what is important is the voltage and your unit model number.

Bought this to replace defective original. Easy to install… (couple of wrenches and Teflon tape).Only complaint is that it’s much noisier than the original, there’s a loud solid “clunk” when when solenoid operates, but it does the job…

Worked perfectly. Teflon taped all the threads first and reassembled it to properly seal the connections, as it comes loosely connected. That's is important; it isn't quite ready to go right out of the box! Easy hookup, no leaks, works perfectly. If it's too loud or too much water is coming out, just adjust it at the shut-off valve. We will see how long it lasts, but as of now, all is well.*Update This product failed within 30 days. The valve got stuck closed. I hope my luck with Amazon purchases improves soon, this last month has been rough!

Leaked like a sieve. The threaded brass connectors weren’t factory glued to the solenoid and the male threads were super tight and binding. I thought plumbing tape would solve the leaks but the fit was even tighter. It was also noisy as hell and clunky sounding on start and stop. Terrible product.

First of all I tightened all the connections very tight and it leaks. Drip, drip, drip. Also, there is no restriction on the water flow, so when it’s on, it’s dumping way too much water into the humidifier pad. Also, it doesn’t turn off when the furnace is off. This is total garbage that I will return and I’ll buy the more expensive piece from General Aire.

Fits just as good as the original. I would suggest taking the connections apart and putting thread tape on them before installing. I had a small leak even though I tightened the connections out of the box. Had to take it off and apply the tape. Problem solved.
