Be Aware
- Ensure that the timer is configured before initiating the heating process.
- The heating element will automatically shut off once the designated time has elapsed.
- In case of an error message on the controller, please reset the device to restore functionality.
- Be aware that direct sunlight may interfere with the LED display
How to reset
To restore the control panel functionality: If you see an error message on the controller, first turn off the smoker and disconnect it from the power source. After waiting for ten seconds, plug the unit back in and then power it on again.

The controller works as designed:My Masterbuilt electric smoker controller (Original Equipment) failed after 12 months, approximately 8 uses. During this time I noticed moisture underneath (between) the controller and the top of the smoker. I always use the water tray to add moisture to the process. It’d gotten to the point the smoker would trip the GFI. Upon inspection, it was obvious how the moisture was entering the controller. It’s the smoker design not the controller causing the problem. Moisture & electronics go together like oil & water do…Therefore, I’ve attempted to mitigate moisture exposure to the controller. I used aluminium foil & electrical tape to address this problem, as shown in the pics. The foil on top of the smoker doesn’t show to be secured with electrical tape, but I did after the pic was taken.Bottom line…I haven’t used the “replacement” controller for a full 18-20 hour smoke, yet. However, I’m confident I’ll prolong the life of the controller by a simple and fast modification.I hope this helps!
