We have had fixed position yak carriers before and these folding carriers are far superior. When not in use it only takes a minute or so, to fold them down. Not only looks better, but can fit in the garage with the rack on! The yaks do not slip in these holders and the adjustable positions has proved useful with both a 13'6" and 10'6" yak on the roof together. The ratcheting lashings are also of good quality and soft material. My only constructive feedback would be that these only have one bracket to attach to the roof rack, and I would prefer two because it is a beefier holder and we have larger kayaks. Overall A+ though from me for value, quality and functionality!!!

I mounted these Js to my Rhino Rack cross bars on my 2018 Chevy Equinox. They fit well, the screws that came in the hardware set are plenty long for mounting securely. These easily carried two kayaks and a paddle board. They are strong and reliable - I drove over 6 hours each direction with two kayaks and a paddle board strapped to them. The straps they come with are worthless though. I had to order my own cam straps (highly recommend NRS 1" heavy duty tie down straps!). I used them multiple times per week from April 2020 to October 2020 before taking them off for the winter and throughout that time I only had to re-tightened the Js a handful of times.The only downside I see with these is that they don't fold perfectly flat. The short part of the J folds totally flat, but then the tall part has to be at about a 30 degree angle over the short part. It still gets low enough that I don't worry about my car being too tall for parking garages.After the 2020 season I contacted AA Products for some replacement installation hardware as the rubber padding that goes around the Rhino Racks was ripping and a few of the screw nuts were coming loose from the grippy part for tightening. They were very prompt to respond and send the new parts without charging me for them.Overall, I think they are a fantastic value with fantastic customer support!! 100% Recommend to everyone I know who's considering getting kayaks/Js for transporting them!!

The value for the money is there if you have a smaller kayak. This did not work for me because I have 2 tandems and felt like the fact they only secure to the bar in one place isn’t enough. When compared to the J-lows that secure in 2 places, there really is no comparison. Of course those are much more expensive, so like I said, if I had a smaller boat, I would consider these.

After fighting to make the bolts align ( i had to take a hammer to the bolts to bend them in a way where it would fit with the bracket provided), they were pretty easy to install. I've heard some complain about corrosion so I just take them off after each use, which is pretty easy after the initial install. This also prevents them from being stolen. I drove with two 10 ft kayaks on it and it handled it fine. I shook the racks with my hands and it was a little disconcerting but it held up to cross winds just fine. Id be a little cautious though about putting more than 75 lbs on each one of these though. They didn't chew up my crossbars and they didn't break so I won't knock them too much.

I bought this for my Hummer H2, I wasn't expecting much for the price. I recieved it packaged very well with lots of bubble wrap and foam to keep it from being damaged. I pulled it from the box and could tell right away that the quality was there, thick steel tubing and the plastic adjusters were very sturdy and not cheap plastic-ee feeling. Although the mounts that clamp to the cross bars were not wide enough and wouldn't fit, I have talked to a few manufacturers since my return of these and all of them say that 3.5" width is standard and nobody makes any that are bigger. The cross rails on the h2 are 4"x 2" which is too big either direction. I thought about modifying the mounts but did not want to mess them up if I didnt succeed and them not be able to return them. My search continues.

I am pleasantly surprised to the quality and appearance of this item. I purchased this in order to carry my fishing kayak on my 2016 Jeep Renegade. These were easy to install. I loved the included optional installation methods, longer, more permanent or quick connect/disconnect. I chose the longer, more permanent method. The package also included two different bolt length. I used the shorter ones. I was concerning about the bolts interfering with MySky automatic sun roof. They didn't interfere at all. The directions were easy to understand and the pictures were helpful. It took about 15 minutes to install each J-Hook. It could have been quicker but I was really proceeding slowly since I was sure of the quality of the cross bars I also purchase (see my other reviews for that info). When done, they felt secure. I folded them down and took them for a ride. It was at this time I became concerned that I might should have chose the quick disconnect method. However, I decided to fold the long J-hook arm to its fully open position. I took them for another ride. The wind noise was significantly decreased and the small additional drag on my vehicle at higher speeds was gone. Now, I'm glad that I chose the more permanent installation. I like the look they added to my Jeep Renegade. You might not be able to immediately tell what is up on top of my Jeep and what it's for, but you know it must be for something fun.

Used these every weekend to take our 12' 60lb Eagle Run kayaks. They are very sturdy, no bouncing around and the adjustment is a great feature that makes it easy to load and unload. I am so happy with this purchase. We lost one knob because I didn't tighten down when the kayaks were off and they sent me a replacement immediately without and fee. Great customer service. I recommend this product to anyone searching endlessly. Best deal, best quality, best service.
