ACDelco GM Original Equipment A/C Refrigerant Pressure Sensors monitor the pressure of the refrigerant circuit and provide pressure data to the Engine Control Module (ECM) or HVAC control head. The ECM or control head can then regulate the compressor and cooling fan operation to maintain system pressure within the programmed parameters. This original equipment A/C refrigerant pressure sensor is a GM-recommended replacement for your vehicle’s original component and has been manufactured to fit your specific GM vehicle, providing the same performance, durability, and service life you expect from General Motors.

GM engineers hate people that work on cars. On the GMT360 Platform, Envoy, Trailblazer, Rainier etc. You will either need to have really skinny arms, or pull the alternator to change it out.But otherwise if you know where this is, it is an easy change out, most of the systems that use this have a Schrader valve so you do not need to evacuate the entire system of refrigerant. If you know the system has a charge, the compressor is functional, and you eliminated the low side sensor as a possible source of the problem, this sensor can bring back your ac to functional.

On my 1999 Buick Regal I noticed that the cooling fans were not running while the AC system was being used. I checked out the relays etc and I found that this switch was bad and not telling the computer that the high side pressure was above a certain level. Swapping out the old one with this new one fixed the problem.

First off, I'm far too old and fat for my girlfriend and her mother looked upon me with disapproval. The A/C in her Olds Alero hadn't worked for years and we were having a hot spell. I offered to take a look at it for her since I had the tools and had luck with my own A/C system and that of a few friends' cars. I downloaded the electrical diagram for the system from Alero World or something so I wasn't flying blind. I hooked up my gauge set and verified there was pressure in the system. I used a meter to verify power getting to the A/C relay and that the clutch wasn't reading open. I bypassed the compressor relay to make sure the compressor would kick in and build pressure. Then I hooked up a 10K potentiometer to the pressure sensor plug and used it to simulate the pressure sensor. The car's ECU then drove the compressor and condenser fan so I figured that I found the problem. Two days later I had the part and installed it. The port in this car (2002 Alero) has a schrader valve which closes to prevent refrigerant from escaping when the sensor is removed. The A/C system then worked as you'd expect. I used a temperature/pressure chart for R134a and added a bit of refrigerant to put the high and low side readings in line with the chart. I'm sure the HVAC pros are rolling their eyes at me, lol. But, but at least I'm reading both sides of the system and ambient temp, right? Long story even longer: Both the Alero and me are cool in my girlfriend's mom's book.
