I had a 2008 Ford Escape that I loved very much. It developed a problem with the front brakes where they would seize up when I stopped. If I was stopped at a stop sign or a traffic light, I had to go again and would force the car forward with the gas pedal, often making a loud groaning sound from the brakes. After driving a little bit, the brakes would loosen and there was no problem. Until I got to the next light. Then the same thing would happen. Both frustrating and embarrassing to drive. What made it worse was that my job required me to stop-and-go drive. Over time, DIY I replaced the brake pads, the brake rotors, even the calipers and it didn't solve the problem.Soooo....one snowy winter night when I was working some (expletive) blew a stop sign and the 2008 Escape was totaled when I tried to avoid him (he fled the scene).I ended up getting another Escape, 2010 this time. I loved this Escape, too. But, how can this be? It developed the EXACT same problem with the front brakes. Again, changed every component I thought might be the cause, to no avail. Finally, I resorted to the Internet, querying about the symptoms of the problem. It turned out others had the same problem with their Escapes: apply brakes to stop, brakes lock up, use the gas pedal to force the car to go again and the brakes eventually releasing. And, there was an answer that I had not considered: the brake hoses. For some reason, my brain had failed to comprehend that the brake hoses could be a problem. They're hoses. If they're not leaking, then they're fine. But, as one or more Internet responders explained, when the hose get old and deteriorates, the hoses sort-of swell up and the brake fluid doesn't flow through them very well. When you step on the brake pedal, it forces the brake fluid into the brake caliper and the car stops. But, when you take your foot off the brake pedal, there is nothing forcing the brake fluid back to the master cylinder. If the hoses are good, the brake fluid just flows back to the cylinder. If the hoses are deteriorated, though, the brake fluid doesn't flow back, it oozes. So, when you take your foot off the brake, the calipers release slooowly. Too slowly for normal driving. The solution was simple and not very expensive. If I had replaced the hoses first, instead of last, I could have saved myself a lot of grief and expense.I ordered a pair of these ACDelco Professional Front Hydraulic Brake Hoses. After all the DIY brake work I had done on both my 2008 and 2010 Ford Escapes, I could have put the brake hoses on in my sleep. These hoses have been great and I have not had a problem with my brakes since I installed them.

I think it was well over a year ago that I installed this hose and I've had no trouble with it. It's a perfect replacement for the hose it replaced.
