Finally, after getting this splint, I am able to sleep! The boot was just too heavy and bulky! This splint helped to keep my foot (with sn achilles injury) in the right position throughout the night.

This is perfect and exactly what is needed after Achilles surgery. I would have given it 5 stars but I’m taken back by this company. This is a great design but the price is ridiculous. I purchased it because I couldn’t sleep in the boot. This company knows it and takes full advantage. I’m a nurse and I think it’s horrible to charge such an outrageous amount. It’s shooting fish in a barrel.

I couldn't sleep with the boot. While this is too expensive for what it is, it's worth it for the comfort while sleeping and lounging. Will not protect you from injury if you try to stand or walk around with it so still gotta be extra gentle and careful. Straps could stand to be a bit longer. I never strapped it really tight since my leg was always tender, tingly, and swollen post surgery. Always wore a soft sock under it so the straps wouldn't irritate it.

My only gripe is that the brace keeps my toe TOO pointed, more than the doc prescribed. After about a month of nighttime use I stopped using it, but for that first month after the rupture (mine was completely ruptured but didn’t require surgery), it was much better than sleeping in the boot 🎉

Nach der OP an der Achillessehne war diese Schiene eine Erleichterung in der Nacht! Würde ich auf alle Fälle empfehlen wenn man wieder durchschlafen möchte!

If you have a ruptured achilles tendon this is what you need!!!! It keeps it in the perfect position while not being bulky like the boot. You obviously can’t walk with it but it is for resting NOT walking!

This damn thing is my new bestie!! I am SO thankful to have found it. I am a light sleeper to begin with and the boot was making sleep impossible! It felt like a torture chamber at night. At the 2 week mark (non-op) my Dr. approved this, and I am sleeping 6-8 hours a night which is my norm. I have read people think it is too expensive??? It is priceless! Some say it is a bit uncomfortable, but if you add a nice thick wool sock under it, you will quickly adjust to the slight discomfort. Seriously, if you are struggling with the boot at night, treat yourself with this wonderful device!!!

Endlich wieder nachts schlafen.

If you've ruptured your Achilles tendon... Commiserations! It's not fun. And it's not a quick recovery. You will have been given a Controlled Ankle Movement (CAM) boot and, after wearing it all day, there's no respite at night. Like me, you might find that sleeping in the boot is even harder than walking in it. It's hot. Things you don't notice during the day suddenly become impossible to ignore: a bit of pressure here, a bit of rubbing there. And you can't sleep. This is exactly what the night splint is designed to solve. And it works. As others have noted, the splint is not cheap, but it's a niche product, made by a small company, and there's little scope for economies of scale. You're paying for the expertise that went into its design too. In my view, it's worth every penny. It took me a bit of fiddling around making minor adjustments to the position and tightness of the straps to get it comfortable. It's a case of balancing security and comfort. I prioritised security and, the first night, I had tightened the strap that goes under the foot a little too much and, as a result, the splint was pressing on the top of my foot too much for a whole night's comfort. I was also concerned that the strap at the heel might cause problems, but it hasn't. In the end, I've found that I'm actually having the heel strap a little tighter than the calf and foot straps and that's got the balance between security and comfort about right. I've still found that a cotton wool make-up pad, half under the splint, at the edge nearest my small, outer toes helps: everyone's feet are different and I found that was a bit of a pressure point. However, it's worth the effort: I've been able to sleep well and the splint has remained secure. The recovery of my Achilles tendon remains on track too.In summary, then, this has been a very worthwhile purchase. It's a good example of a small company that's identified a problem and provided a solution. (Note: the Thetis website is also an excellent source of information about Achilles tendon injuries and recovery.) I would also suggest searching for the Evenup Shoe Balancer on Amazon: another helpful product but one that makes walking with a CAM boot a bit easier.

This sleeping brace for Achilles tendon rupture did not fit right and would not stay on through the night. I would have returned it but there were no return instructions and no return shipping label. For several nights I have tried different levels of tightness, socks/no socks, etc with no success. A total failure!

IN SHORT: This splint is a great idea. It is light and holds your foot in the appropriate downward position and helps you sleep more comfortably. Unfortunately, the straps are poorly designed causing unnecessary pressure on your tendon and calf muscle, which at this price, cannot be forgiven.REVIEW: This splint was a life saver. I ruptured my left Achilles tendon a few weeks ago and was given a medical boot. As many of you know, a medical boot is heavy and clunky. It was causing me to develop knee pain especially while sleeping. It was also kind of gross sleeping with a dirty boot that had been all over the floor.PROS: The boot is light and well designed, keeping my foot in the proper downward position. I immediately slept more comfortably and within a few days eliminated my knee pain. The materials seem sufficiently good for a simple item like this. The padding on the inside is soft but sturdy and it extends beyond the outer shell which prevents the harder material from pressing against your leg. It comes with three straps, two permanently sewn into the splint and one that is separate. The top strap goes around the calf and the bottom one goes around the arch and sole. The middle strap, which is not sewn in, goes around the heel and has a split in the center to fit your heel into. The material of the straps is on par with that of other straps. All straps attach with Velcro. It is not recommended you walk with this splint on. It is only for sleeping.CONS: I'm not a big guy per se, but definitely bigger than the average person. I originally ordered a small by mistake. When I first put it on I noticed it felt really tight around the bottom of my calf where it meets the Achilles tendon (top strap). This was not good, you do not want pressure on that area. It should fit snug, but never tight. I quickly realized my mistake and ordered the large one. It was physically much larger (see pictures). Unfortunately, the straps themselves are the same size for both splints (see pictures). This is the first major design flaw. The small splint wrapped around where the calf met the Achilles tendon, the large splint wraps around the calf muscle itself. Since the strap is not larger it ends up being even tighter than the smaller splint. The second design flaw is that the straps themselves are designed to make pressure through stretching which is not ideal. It is better for them to be adjustable like the straps on medical boots. This leads me to the most important con which is price. This splint costs $59.99. At this price point, it should at the very least have adjustable straps. Not to mention they didn't even care enough to provide larger straps on the larger model.TO THE MAKER: You have unique product with potential. Despite the flaws, I decided to keep the splint since there isn't another one like it on the market. I use one of the adjustable straps from my boot instead of the super tight one on the splint. If you redesign the splint with adjustable straps you'll have a winner on you hands.
