Works great with R8. Measured voltage of about 8.3 volts matches the voltage of Canon's battery that came with the R8, so there's no risk of damaging the camera, which I'm told can happen with some of these adapters.Also, the adapter is really UL certified, which means that it's tested for safety. The lack of an independent testing certification like UL's can lead to your home insurance company rejecting your claim in the event of a fire caused by an uncertified electrical device.

I have the Canon SL2 and it doesn’t power it. I don’t know if it’s a production error with just mine, but my camera will not power on like it would with a battery.

OK, so I was about to send this product back since I wasn't getting any power to the camera even though the blue light was on in the adapter. After looking more closely at the picture, I noticed that the battery cover was closed, and mine wasn't. I did not initially notice the little cutout that you can run the wire through and close the batter case, once closed the camera received power, no problem. Works as intended.
