I’ve used this product twice, once for a pair of Acoustic Research AR8 speakers and more recently on a pair of AR Rock Partner units. As others have noted, the process requires lots of patience and careful preparation, especially in removing all traces of the deteriorated old woofer surrounds and glue. I’ve found the best tool for the job is a box cutter, followed by wiping off traces of old glue using acetone (aka nail polish remover borrowed from the Missus) and a quick wipe with rubbing alcohol. It’s great that this supplier provides all the necessary bits for the operation including the new foam surrounds, glue, brush and very complete instructions. However I’ve knocked one star off of my rating as the cheap brush provided was complete crap—it was too stiff to do the job properly and it left brush hairs everywhere, necessitating a messy effort to remove the hairs from the speaker before proceeding with the glueing process.

Perfect fit for my vintage AR-7 pair. Took some elbow grease to remove all the old foam residue, and it’s a little nerve-wracking to work on scraping the paper cone clean, but the directions and video guide you along. The rubber adhesive sets a little more quickly than I expected, but I managed to get everything aligned with no coil scraping. It’s been years since I heard these speakers and I am amazed how great they sound! They don’t make speakers like this anymore!

Installed on AR6 woofers and work great! Some work prepping the surfaces. I used a soft wire wheel to clean the paper edge, works great. Then glued the frame part with a 100hz signal for no noise centering. Excellent sounding once again!
