I've always run Hougen Rotabroach cutters in the past with excellent results. I figured I would try the Actool and see how it held up. Cutting only A36 mild steel so far, these Actool cutters are doing ok. I'd say they cut as fast as Hougen and make as good quality of hole, but the Hougens cut long strips of continuous cuttings, where the Actool cuts shorter, less consistent cuttings. Fit and finish are ok, not great, but not poor. The cutter fits the Weldon holder fine, but the ejector pin is quite loose and makes it difficult to locate a center punch accurately. Over all, if I need a cutter and Amazon can get it to me sooner than my local Hougen outlet, I will buy Actool cutters again.

We bought 10 of these, and the first few blew away expectations. However, when using one, it blew apart into multiple pieces (something we have never had happened with any other drill bit). Thinking it would just be the one, we continued using them; however, out of the 10 we ordered, 3 of them blew apart, which is a major safety hazard. This might not happen on less hard materials, but I would not recommend this for steel.

I have over 100 cutters and I just started shopping on amazon for them. Great quality for the price, but will it hold up for 500+ holes which i am use to with hougen bits.
