After our plumber had to cut into the wall of our 100-year-old house for the second time to fix our shower, he suggested I install an access panel. We wanted the panel to be as invisible as possible rather than framed, so i went with this one. It did not line up exactly with our studs, and I had to use an angle grinder to notch the top and bottom to fit around the studs. Even with that, the frame was sturdy enough and attached easily to the studs with flat head construction screws. It took a couple of coats of joint compound to get a smooth finish, but I'm really happy with the final result. The only think that would make it better is if the top and bottom parts of the frame were shallower so that I didn't need to notch them around the studs.
