I do this maintenance once a year. After doing it this year a problem started. the tractor ran about 10 feet and it seemed like it choked. I was told it was the fuel pump, so I purchased it on Amazon and replaced it.Nothing changed. I noticed that the fuel filter did not fill up. When the choke was used it started immediately up but again after about 10 feet, the engine shut down by itself. replaced the fuel filter and the problem ended. A cheap fuel filter was my nightmare.

I live in Texas, so it is very hot. I had put the new plug, filter, and fuel filter on the night prior. I am a certified automotive, diesel, and turbine engine mechanic. So doing any of these swaps was not difficult. Last night I had been mowing my property for maybe 3 or 4 hours, and suddenly there was a strong odor of fuel, and my neighbor came running with a fire extinguisher. He hit the engine right at the point of combustion. You heard the dull thump of oxygen been sucked out of the air to allow the 3 gallon full fuel tank to erupt. The clear fuel filter that rides right by the engine, had cracked and broke the plastic nipple on the plastic filter. I know what would have happened had my neighbor not been there. As stated, THIS NOT AN OPINION! THIS IS A FACT. The cheap plastic being used, is a danger to life and limb.
