This is the same as the slicer I used for years. It works with cheddar cheese as well as jack and mozzerella. The slice thickness can be easily set. It comes with 4 replacement wires.

I love the material and the adjustable roller. The slicer works very well. Make sure you HAND WASH!! However, it is NOT dishwasher safe. I put it in the dishwasher and it tarnished. It went from bright silver to very dark grey. I had to use a steel wool pad to scrub the tarnish off to make it useable.

I try to review small items on a full sized keyboard for size comparison.What I liked - To be candid, I saw the design in the ad. A single tab to adjust the roller forward and backwards that would set the cutting thickness, and a single thumbscrew in the center to hold it. I figured that would mean that the roller would move a good bit on that single point hinge. My experience was, quite pleasantly, different. I found that the design gave a lot of good control over thickness and that the movement of the roller side to side during cutting was minimal. To test it, I got an 8 oz. block of Swiss cheese, which is a pretty rigid item for it to cut. The cutting blade stayed stiff (although I love having the spares and it's clearly easy to replace), and I put the roller as far forward as it could go and got very thin slices, and then bulled it back to try the harder roughly 1/4" slices. The unit worked just great in both configurations.So . . . I'm pleasantly surprised, quite happy, and glad to have it.

Do not purchase. Arrived in pieces and could not be put together by someone with years of mechanical experience and all the appropriate tools.

Within 4 months of use the cheese cutting wire broke. Build quality is poor
