Good aperture for your PVS14. Basically lets you increase your focus range at the expense of light gain. Useful if you don't want to constantly focus.

Let me preface this with I have spent hundreds of hours under NVGs on missions in Afghanistan. These days, you see an adjustable iris on peoples kit from the internet. This is a logical progression of the old "lens cap with a hole poked in it" that some did as an infinite depth of field trick, or as a day filter. I often found myself needing to work on my pack, a buddy's kit, or do something at arms reach, so I would adjust my focus momentarily ...So if you want to do that, the iris sells you on the idea that reducing your collected image through a pinhole will give you better focal depth. I slapped it onto my PVS-14 & ANVIS NVGS to give it a try, and it fits perfectly, works great. The material is quality. However you lose a LOT of light, making the image practically unusable in anything other than full illumination. If you plan on using a lot of IR illum in this scenario, that is fine. Just don't think that it will work otherwise when engaged. The next issue is that this does not achieve that close-focus at arms length that you desire. I would say it maybe gives you a focus out to 20+ meters when engaged. ... at that distance, a "less than infinite" focal point, or even an infinite focal point will still let you see a normal amount of detail. As a vet, I just don't get the internet hype over these things. But if you want an iris, go for it. This one is perfect and HOT TO GO!

I've had a few of these over the years, and this one might be my favorite. The build quality is very good. The unit is all metal, except for the soft plastic dust cover. The iris adjustment is smooth. I really like that the dust cap is attached. It's convenient, and you don't have to worry about misplacing it. Everything just works well. The icing on the cake is the price. Listed at $39.99 at the time of my writing this review (and offering a 10% off coupon), this adapter is a real bargain.

If you want an aperture for your pvs 14 but don't want to spend the $250 then this is for you. Maybe has some questionable build quality , but this works perfectly fine.

These aperture filters are clearly very well made - the lightweight, compact units feel solid in your hands and don't jostle around at all when pieced together. The pieces fit nicely and securely onto the goggles and are easy to adjust without loosening the connection to the goggle. this is a great set and I would recommend!

This is a neat little mechanism that works without issue. It's nice that it's all metal and everything fits together with very tight tolerances. It's such a delicate little mechanism, and it speaks to the quality that it feels as solid as it does.

I just picked up a new pvs-14 and wanted to give it a little extra protection. Mine actually came with an iris like this but it felt flimsy. This one feels sturdy, without adding any extra weight to the setup. It functions well, turning well with just enough tension for it not to move by itself but freely enough that it won’t be a struggle while wearing tac gloves. Very happy with this product and would recommend to anyone looking to give both a physical and technical protection to an expensive item.

This has excellent build quality and with a premium fit and finish. The dial is smooth and precise allowing you complete control over the amount of light you allow into your options. Very well made. Does what it’s supposed to do and does it very well.
