The pictures are misleading. The material is an extremely fine mesh and will reduce the amount of light getting through. Haven't tried setting it up so can't comment on that. Returning.

I use this on my 30gal cube rimmed tank I use for quarantine. This keeps any fish from jumping out. Had some damsels they were jumping out, got this and they stopped. Must have for any salt water fish or fresh that are jumpers if you want an open top tank.

This worked for my bearded dragon's tank. The tank came with a bad fitting lid. This made a nice fitting lid for my lizard's tank that has front-opening doors. This was easy to use.
