About this item

  • Universal MIDI controller for use with any DJ software
  • Extremely durable, touring grade build quality
  • Minimal design with slim line chassis and soft touch controls
  • 12 analog and 6 endless rotary encoders with push switch
  • Includes durable black padded case that doubles as a stand

Allen & Heath's Xone:K2 is a compact, slim line universal MIDI controller that incorporates a 4-channel soundcard, for use with any DJ software. Quick and simple mapping lets you create a unique layout that mirrors your style and puts the functions that matter at your fingertips, while 3-color illuminating switches give at-a-glance feedback. Xone:K2 has 52 physical controls, including 12 analog and 6 endless rotary encoders with push switch, 4 linear faders, and 30 backlit performance switches, providing up to 171 MIDI control commands across 3 layers. What each control does is entirely up to you. You can create a completely customized layout that perfectly fits the way you want to work. By assigning controls to multiple layers you can give a single physical control up to 3 functions. You can configure all, some or none of K2's controls to be linked to the latching layers system. Xone:K2 has a high quality internal, four channel (2 stereo) soundcard. Setup options include using the Xone:K2 with headphones, headphones and a mix/PA system or with an external mixer. Its slim line chassis and soft touch controls set K2 apart from the pack. Xone:K2 is built to Allen & Heath's renowned touring grade audio and build quality standards, including the use of steel nuts on all rotary controls to protect the circuitry from impact damage. Xone:K2 comes packed in a durable black padded case as standard. As well as keeping it safe on the road, the case doubles as a stand, bringing the K2 up to the same height as most pro DJ mixers. Two K2s can be linked via Allen & Heath's X:LINK protocol, giving twice as much control capability. X:LINK uses a standard RJ45 connector and distributes power and data, which means two K2s can be connected to your software using only one USB port on your computer. X:LINK also allows connection to Xone:DB4 and Xone:DB2 mixers, offering further expansion.

Was looking for a slim controller and this fit the bill. Saw a few artists I respect using it and was really excited. Unfortunately it ships direct from the manufacturer who saw fit to ship me a cheaper model from another brand they also make instead. Fortunately Amazon accepted the return but if I can't get the right unit from the manufacturer itself, guess I'll have to wait until I find one in a store.

After a great use it’s a must use. Independent mapping. But now sure why has the price gone up drastically. I wanted to buy two more controllers but the price seems to vary on the extreme higher end every time. But it’s a must buy controller to use.

This is not really a beginner-level piece of gear. I use this because I use open source software and need a high-quality class-compliant MIDI controller. This works great! My only criticism so far is the OEM knobs aren't great (fixable) and the white button pads get dirty quickly.

I use this with ableton as the controller for the effects on my stems during live performance. It is intuitively designed and with the layer function actually provides 3x the controller for your buck. I sold my APC 40 mkii and use this and a push 1 (I use the push 1 for clip triggering and volume control on a more granular level and use the xone K2 for volume/FX on 4 main stems for each track in my live set (I send each track to one of four return tracks: vox drums bass other). the K2 is dope the knobs provide good resitance rotating, the sliders slider real good, and the layer functionality is easy to use with the color coding (switching layers of midi controls makes all the buttons light a different LED color so you get an extra layer of brain recognition)only negative is that the there are basically no set up guides that ive found for using with different DAWs as a midi controller. to use as a "blank" controller the K2 has to be in the "layer latch" mode where none of the pads are latched. to get any automap funtionality you have to download the "midi remote script" online.Bottom line i love this controller. it's well built and versatile, once it's set up it very nice to work with.

Awesome, fully customizable, slim-line controller. The 3 separate "layers" are an incredible feature and give this device way more functionality than it already appears to have. Built in soundcard as well, with two outputs (one RCA, one 1/8") so you can use it as a slimmed down stand-alone unit or as an emergency backup if your main soundcard fails. I currently use it with Traktor, using CDJs in HID mode, and using the K2 for easy access to other functions in Traktor.

Excellent option over an X1 or F1. The faders have a quality feel to them. Not overly loose like NI faders, but not overly tight either... they have the perfect feel you would expect from A & H. All encoders and buttons feel durable and have withstood aggressive use. The faceplate seems bulletproof and has no flex whatsoever. Latching system is extremely brilliant. When comparing this controller to any of NI controllers, you will notice the advantages of the K2 rather quickly.

Really great if you're comfortable MIDI mapping yourself. Still great with user submitted MIDI maps. I would give it 5 stars if it had a dedicated hardware volume control and a power switch, It is slightly larger than I thought it would be - quite long. The build quality is good, a bit light overall but the control surface is top notch. Sound quality is great, much better than some 24bit/96khz cards I've used (looking at you Behringer).Note: on a MAC you will need to set the AUDIO/MIDI output (in Utilities) to channel 3/4 to output the main computer audio (iTunes, Chrome, etc) through the sound card. Channel 1/2 Miniplug 3/4 RCAs. That was the only thing that caused any confusion right out of the box.
