It’s really anti-static, 100% recommended.

It definitely does remove static completely, but putting the carbon fibre & Felt mat on top of the thick rubber mat on my Technics 1210G record deck caused the bass to nearly disappear, and the mid range and treble to be accentuated.I then tried it under the rubber Matt, and it seems to still work,. Looking closely at the brass top of the platter, it doesn’t actually touch the centre spindle which earths the static to mains earth. But the anti static mat does touch the spindle.

I bought this mat to try to protect my records from stray dust and hairs, thinking that if it could reduce static on my records it would do a better job of keeping stray dust and hairs from clinging to them. On first use, this mat shed at least 50 fibers onto each side record. They are extremely challenging to remove because they are incredibly thin and cling to the vinyl or stick in between the grooves. I noticed it right away because I tried out a white-colored vinyl record and the black fibers were immediately visible. I think I wouldn’t notice so easily on black vinyl, but the fibers get in the way of the needle and cause crackles in this brand new, previously clean record. If anyone else experiences this, I’ve had some moderate luck with dragging a carbon fiber brush from the inside out against the grooves, while blowing a clean air source (handheld electric air blower) in the same direction. I have been at it for about five minutes and gotten half the fibers out on one side.Note about the picture, I’ve tried to get a representative picture but it’s rough because these fibers are so small that I can’t exactly back out and show the whole record all at once in order to show the extent of the problem. In the image posted, to the southwest of the black album cover you should be able to see a small black fiber in a groove, along with several other stray fibers near it further southwest of that one directly in the groove. This is after having brushed the record extensively for 5 minutes.

Fazit: knapp 5*.

It is a very well made and presented product. That said it has done nothing about the static problem on my turntables. I say that because when I was still getting loud static pops on one turntable I moved it to the other and the same result. Still having loud static bursts. I live in NY and when it is both cold and dry (not that common a combination) the turntables literally crackle with static and the mat has done nothing to change that, even by degree, compared to other products I have tried. If you have real static problem I don't think this will change anything.

I think it is the best product for the antistatic. But the thickness is not constant is a big disadvantage.
