Water satyed green. The bulb cannot be removed either tried to replace it but the bulb cover does not open. Money wasted.

This filter is quieter and works more efficiently than a filter I paid almost three times as much for. The light is incredible at keeping the water crystal clear. It’s easy to maintain . The light kills all bacteria both bad and good so there’s no point in using any bio starters in the water. My fish are very happy.

My 40 gallon aquarium became a headache to clean and keep it clean, no matter what I did the water was never clear. Once I installed this 3 stages filter, it took 24 running the UV light and 2 days later my water is crystal clear. The installation was super easy. My aquarium has happy fish and no obstructions with bulky filters. It is now a piece of art in my dining room.

I had high hopes for this pump as I was looking for something with a built-in UV light specifically to help keep the water in our turtle tank clear . The plastic inflow and outflow pipes are very thin and soft (not the flexible tubing but the actual “hard plastic” pipes that the flexible tubing connects to). After connecting everything together per the instructions, the pump just never stayed primed. I would fill up the tubes with water. Made sure the outflow was under water in the aquarium, had the pipes the well beyond the minimum required distance away from the pump itself. Everything was Gravity supported as the tank is elevated on a stand with the pump underneath it. Absolutely nothing worked to keep the pump primed. It would start sucking water and pushing through the system and then seconds later gutter out, bubble and lose suction flow. I disassembled it multiple times and eventually found Hairline cracks in the thin plastic pipe connectors where water was leaking out so I’m assuming the system would not stay pressurized because of that but either way it was a frustrating and disappointing set up. Eventually, I just went back to a different quality canister filtration pump with a secondary in tank UV light and that cleared up the cloudy water and is a much easier system to maintain separately than a faulty pump with a built-in UV light that would have been a pain to access and replace and never stayed primed.

They are not lying to call it ultra-quiet. I purchased this filter to replace a broken down Aqueon, which is quite a bit bigger. It's not a fair comparison but because of my use case, it also reflects my own experience. It's smaller that I expected it, and a lower flow rate compared to the Aqueon. It's unfair given the smaller propeller and the use of 5/8" tube vs. 3/4" in the Aqueon. Considering it's size and target use cases, I would say that the flow rate is decent. The filter medium compartments are okay in size as well. However, the bio-balls that come with the filter are a joke - only a small bag that can't even fill up one compartment, let alone three. Luckily, I'm reusing my previous filter medium. I also wish that the out-flow spray tube to be a bit longer. I will need to look into sourcing a different one that will fit.The UV light is a bonus. The switch has a tiny window that shows the UV light is actually on. I did not have a chance to look into opening up the UV light compartment, but expect it not to be too complicated when the bulb needs to be replaced. Time will tell.Overall, I think this is a decent filter given the size and price.

We bought this about a month ago and it arrived in great condition. It took us about 30 minutes to set it up because we are new to canister filters but now that we know I think it takes less than 10 minutes to set up. Getting it to start pumping the water was a little difficult. I think it was due to how low we have our aquarium but once it started there was no stopping it! It came with bio-balls and a sponge that we literally just threw in along with some ceramic rings we kept in the previous waterfall filter and let it rip!It has been working perfectly keeping the water crystal clear. We've never had an aquarium so clean without having to do anything! We've done the water changes just because it feels wrong not to do them but honestly, we test the water weekly and it is always within parameters. It is so silent that the only thing we hear is the air pump sitting on the other side of the aquarium. The value you get for the price you pay is awesome. Recommended for newbies, you'll appreciate your hobby a lot more and will keep your fishies super happy.

It's and okay filtration. I have a 75 gallon aquarium as well as a 55 gallon aquarium. I bought the $85 filter for the 75 gallon which was adequate for the GPH.. the suction is not that great but they said you need a second filter for that size aquarium anyway. So I bought a second filtration for the 75 gallon I'm just not that happy with the suction that it provides. It keeps the tank maintained but it still does not suck up as much as I would expect it to..Now I bought the next size down, smaller filter, for the 55 gallon which was adequate or the GPH, for my goldfish tank. Instead of being able to clean the filter once a month, like the bigger size.. I'm having to clean it once a week! There's not that many baskets for your media, there's only two! Whereas the bigger size up, the $85, has four baskets for your media! I would not recommend getting the smaller one.. it's just not that sufficient and it adds extra work and it's a hassle.Another point that may not be neither here nor there because it's really stuck out to me with these two products being the same but different sizes.. I don't like how funk from the tank gets caught up in the outflow tube. So when I go to clean the filter and I come back to connect everything and get it going again, funk from the tubes spits out of the outflow back into the tank. It kind of looks like possibly algae or slime?? I've never had a filter do that before so not quite sure what's happening there just wanted to note it. I will get it figured out. And I can come back and give an update. My suggestion would be do not waste your time for anything less than the $85 filter. But you're definitely going to need a second filter if your tank is 55 gallon or above. The suction is just not strong enough. One last thing! I received the first $85 filtration system and the cover for the UV light was broken in the shipping. They sent me a replacement out quickly... I just wanted to know that I looked for a replacement cover for that UV light. (It's a quartz glass cover that had broke.) It is worth noting that the cover costed anywhere from the amount the filtration system cost me and above. So what you get is great for the price, but you will need a second hang off, filtration.
