This counterfeit bill detector works in verifying bills are genuine. The black light clearly lights up the UVreactive threads that are found in all modern US currency. I appreciate that the light automatically turns off after about a minute to conserve battery life.The magnetic ink detector will beep a few times when running the magnetic ink printing on a bill over the detector, indicating that it was printed with magnetic ink. The magnetic ink detection seems a little more fussy to work with. No beeps might very well indicate “operator error” and that the bill is actually real. For that reason, I recommend that a user practice for a while using known genuine bills. Magnetic ink isn’t found in sufficient density all over the bill to be detected with just a careless swipe of the bill. I got my best result by running a bill parallel to the edge of the device and running the top edge of the bill over the sensor. I wish this sensor were a little more sensitive – but, with practice, it does work.With any counterfeit detection unit the user needs to be trained how to use it reliably.Finally, the battery life is good, and the portability makes it incredibly useful for flea market and/or farm market use.

Awesome Handheld Counterfeit Bill Detector with UV Inspection Light. Compact and lightweight. Highly portable - easy to carry and perfect for on-the-go use, allowing you to verify bills anywhere. You simply rub the bill over the magnetic head and if it is genuine, a beep-beep sound will confirm its authencity, ensuring quick and reliable results. I don't have anyway to check the accuracy of counterfeit bills because I don't have any of those. It automaticaly enters standby after 30 seconds of inactivity to save power and shuts down completely after 5 minutes. Very versatile. Great for businesses or anyone that has to deal with a lot of cash. I ordered this to use in my upcoming yard sale which I believe it will work great at. Handy and convenient. Arrived quickly and well packaged. Easy to use. Lightweight and good quality. This is amazing to be able to check your money with and verify its legitemacy so you don't get stuck with counterfeit money especially the large bills. Good value at $19.99.

This Aneken AL-08 Handheld UV counterfeit bill detector highlights the UV stripe on official USA $5, $10 and $20 dollar bills. (I did not have any larger bills available to test.) This method of detecting fake currency is probably much more effective than that simple iodine pen test method that is so often used at the local stores. But this UV method requires a fairly dimly-lighted environment.Both the location of and the color of the fluorescent stripe that the UV light highlights is an indicator of genuine currency. (The location and color are unique for each denomination of currency.) For more details about using a UV light for detecting counterfeit currency, there are several useful videos online.The magnetic ink detector feature of the AL-08 was basically not functional. Only one of the bills (a $10) caused a beep-beep and that bill only caused the beep twice despite spending a whole lot of time probing several different dollar bills. So using this device for determining whether a bill is genuine by detecting the magnetic ink is just not feasible.So - bottom line - the UV light portion of this counterfeit bill detector could be very helpful at events such as garage sales as long as the lighting is not too bright. But the AL-08 is not sufficiently capable of detecting magnetic ink.

This is very cheap. I would not recommend this to anyone. It does not function well and not worth the value for your money because it is not accurate. 1⭐️

Pros:* 18650 battery* Technically works* USB-C rechargeableCons:* The UV light, while adequate, is less bright than my other UV flashlights.* It's more bulky than a UV flashlight.* The magnetic sensor barely works. I have to run it over the same bill about 10 times before I can get it to beep. If you need to verify more than one bill, while doing a trade, forget it. It only detects the magnetic/UV strip, and not the magnetic ink as shown in the pictures.
