About this item

  • Annular cutter are compatible with almost all major brands of magnetic drills, can also be used with machine tools such as mills and large drill presses with tool holders.
  • Made of tough high speed steel material, with longer service life and high heat resistance.
  • Applicable materials include wood, various steel materials, steel plate, aluminum, brass, cast iron, Stainless steel of lower BHN.,etc.
  • The biggest advantage of HSS annular slugger drill cutter bits is its ability to re-sharpen and burr-free holes and smooth holes, resulting in less scrap and wastage of material, has higher accuracy and multiple cutting edges for ply-cutting and lower friction to reach better performance of endurance and removal of chips.
  • Includes 1 annular cutter with plastic case.

Application

The cutter is used for drilling through steel. They produce accurate burr-free holes to close tolerances without pre-drilling or step drilling. They can drill a much larger hole and requires less force and time than a standard twist drill bit.

The annular Cutter offers superior holemaking capabilities. It cut faster, last longer, produces a better hole finish, a true round hole with very tight tolerances, can be re-sharpened and drills holes with less power and torque.

Requirement to cutting rotate speed of annular cutter are also different for different diameters, and reasonable cutting rotate speed will prolong service life of annular cutter directly,So we recommend:1.The cutting speed:VC=20-25m/min 2.The reasonable rotate feed amount shall be fn=0.08-0.13mm/r 3.The reasonable feed rate shall be vf=36-60mm/min

Notes

What Causes Dull or Broken Cutters?

The primary cause of broken or prematurely dull cutters is a feed rate that is too slow. Slow feed rates will reduce the life of your cutter. Using a firm, steady feed pressure throughout the cut will maximize performance and extend tool life.

Second reason why cutters break is movement of the drill or work piece. The cutter wall can easily be snapped if the drill and material is not held rigid.

I've never used an annular cutter this size (1.5") or brand but it worked very well for my application. I installed the cutter in a collet on my Bridgeport, lined up the work, used cutting oil and took my time. The result was a perfect notch in .120 wall round steel tubing with minimal burrs. The effect was the same on every bit of tubing I used the cutter on and the cutter looks almost unused when I finished the job.

Going back to hole saws. Wanted to try this out on my notcher and they suck. They’re weak and brittle and break right away. I have a very low speed notcher setup. I did probably 3 times slower feed than a normal hole saw and broke two of them without making a single notch.

Good bit, doesn’t last as long as some of the other brands. Make sure you use lube!

using cutter to notch tubing for a race car chassis, works muck nicer and a cleaner cut than a hole saw tube notcher
