As a carpenter who uses this for jackhammering, it holds up very well. The pockets work great to hold my pliers and the leather takes the beating. Easy to put on and staid on. Would recommend to carpenters or laborers looking for a cheaper pair of chaps to protect your legs and clothes!

thin side, i guess that by price, needed skinny girl size, the legs are good, the top needs holes punched, buckle is real cheap but they do the job and arent too thick for hot muggy days yet i feel there is enough to keep a knife from going in my leg. 2 pockets is great!

I am not a professional farrier although I have some training and care for my own horses. These work very well for me and I find them durable (thus far) and comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone starting out.

The material and craftsmanship on these ferrier chaps is pretty decent. Because it is part canvas and part leather they aren't as bulky and heavy as other chaps I've used. They provide good protection where needed when the horse's hoof is between your thighs. The only criticism I have is the leg straps. First of all the leg straps need to be longer to accommodate thicker thighs. The other issue is in how the leg straps are positioned. Currently they are attached to the outside of the leg and velcro to the inside. On someone with narrower legs the excess strap is hanging down between the legs. If the strap were longer it would end up hanging in the work area and would be uncomfortable as well. It would have been a better design to have the straps attached to the inside of the leg wrapping around and velcro to the outside. This way the excess is hanging down on the outside for a thinner leg. And it would allow to have a longer strap for a thicker leg.Aside from the leg strap issue the rest is great. The waist strap has a buckle to set the proper width and then a velcro strap to make easy on and easy off without having to readjust again. In addition to the sturdy canvas making it a lighter chap, and the leather in the places where protection is needed, there are also a couple of small pockets and d rings for keeping your tools at hand. Rivets were used on the pocket corners to ensure that they can handle the stress of tools going in and being taken out. If the leg strap issue was resolved I would certainly give these chaps 5 stars.

These work great for me for working with my miniature horse and goats.Features I like:Easy on/off VelcroDecent-quality leatherPocketsThat being said, there were several things that seem "off". They do not picture the fashion/cheap "brass" buckle at the waist. The canvas material is thin and will probably be the first thing to go. The knife pockets will need to be wetted and shaped to the tool (there is no gap allowance for the tool in the pocket). The thigh straps could be a little longer (the length is awkward to put on while standing).I will absolutely use these to save my clothes for my personal farm use. I would absolutely not get these for professional farrier work with full-size horses.

The velcro onbthe legs runs the wrong direction so I end up looking like Im playing withmyself trying to get ready in front of clients, then the excess is between my thighs in a ball which is not comfortable if I have to walk and starts to undo it some. The knife pockets are too small. My deep belly wont even go into one half way.The buckle on the waist is cheap pot metal and looks cheap. If the velcro on the legs ran the other way where the end came to the lateral thigh, and the pockets held the knives, Id give it a 5 star for value. They are a good size for me, a 5'2" , 150 lbs woman.

I'm not a farrier so I don't really do farrier things. But I am a woodworker, and it's nice to wear these rather than rip up my jeans when I'm working on things in the shop. The leather looks pretty good and soft and I almost don't want to scratch it up. It's pretty easy to put these on, with a velcro strap that goes behind your legs. The belt is also velcro and is pretty easy to secure. The cloth of the chaps is like a waxed canvas-type material so it looks pretty durable. It only has two pockets though, one on each leg, and I assume this is to hold your pick for the horse's hoof.
