This fixed my trailer disconnect issue for trailer brakes. Just what was needed!

Easy to install, I also used dielectric grease for connector. The original failed after eight years of New England weather. Due to corrosion water seeped in and shorted the module.

The mechanics probably got a good laugh when they saw that I had replaced the FUEL PUMP MODULE with the new the brake module! They look the same, but if you scrub off the dirt, you can hopefully see that they have a different part number on the identically shaped part! Even the connector for each one is the same. As it turned out, after I had replaced the control module in the dash twice, the mechanics put the new module where it belonged, reinstalled the old fuel pump module where it belonged, it turned out to be a broken wire.

I replaced the OEM unit on 2018 Chevrolet 2500HD with Duramax. The location of the unit is above the spare tire Mounted to a triangular(ish) plate on the top side and another control module is mounted on the bottom so it’s hard to find but easy to access. Once the spare tire is lowered and moved out of the way the location is visible. There are 3 torx screws that hold the plate in place. Loosen the two on the left of the frame and the one on the right side about half way. The whole plate will slide in the keyhole slots allowing it to be lifted up and then can be maneuvered down. Unscrew the two 10mm bolts to free the unit. CAREFULLY slide the red lock on the wire harness up. If you break it, use a small screwdriver to continue pushing it up enough so the push release can be depressed. I had to use a larger screwdriver to pry/twist the harness while depressing the release. Then wiggle and pull. I use some electronics cleaner to clean the harness then replacing is just the reverse. Good luck! It’s a perfect replacement and works great!

Relatively easy to install with average hand tools. However the fact that I’m getting the DING again in about a year after replacing,,,, is NOT setting well with my wallet, or my Confidence in this part.

Wish the part came with a better seal, had to change because of corrosion.

The electric trailer brakes quit working on my friends GMC 2500, and by process of elimination we another friend told us about this module. Hidden behind the spare tire, fixed the problem.a lot cheaper than the 80 to 100 the parts stores wanted and hundreds a dealer would likely charge to fix it.

If you look at the harness connection, the two guides on top (gray) are opposite of the (tan) OE. The other issue is the mounting hole with pin. The ordered item (gray) is opposite the (tan) OE. It did not work for my 2016 Silverado. My thoughts are the pin layout is also wrong on the housing. Too bad. Inexpensive but crap.

This did not correct the service trailer brake message on my 2015 Sierra. The stock one I removed had the numbers 13/14/15 and this one said 17/18/19. Not sure if that mattered but description did say compatible.
