Sponge Filter

How Does It Work?

Sponge filter uses bubbles of air from an external air pump, or an integral water pump to draw water through the sponge.

What Maintenance Does It Require?

The sponge need to be rinsed about every 2 to 4 weeks. It’s helpful to wash the sponge gently with water from the fish tank instead of tap water.

It is good to replace the sponge after 3 to 6 months’ usage as the holes of sponge is gradually clogged by the tiny debris.

Filter is perfect packaging was great the flow from the top is just right for what ever you would need, plus the extendable neck on it for extra hight is perfect. Not one thing I’m able to complain about. Plus there is nothing like it for the price.

I have this filter in a 60 gallon tetra and shrimp tank and it works great. Water is clean and within normal parameters for a few months thus far. It is easy to maintain and works great. No muss, no fuss!

These filters worked pretty well for me. I've run them in a number of tanks at varying sizes now to great effect. They do a good job of polishing the water and really do have a solid amount of room for beneficial bacteria to grow. The only reason I gave this 4* and not 5* is because the foam used for the sponges is so tight and fine that they clog rather quickly and it's a little difficult to tell when they are no longer performing well. My solution is to just clean them at a very regular cadence without trying to figure out if they need it first or not.

They came with all the parts and they seem like they work well so far. It hooked up well tomsome tubing I had and runs fine with my air pump. They do a good job adding extra filtration to my tank.

I have been using these sponge filters in various tanks for the past 5 years or so. I originally started my tanks with Hang-on-back filtration systems and was tired of wasting money on the filter cartridges that needed to be replaced several times a month. I did my research and found these on Amazon being sold by many different sellers. This seller had them for the best price and still does.Just what I needed when raising fry cichlids and for my betta tank. I've also used these for additional filtration for my goldfish tanks. The unit secures easily on the glass of the tank with the 2 suction cups. Hook up your air tube from your air pump and voila... your filtration is working. Every 2 weeks clean the sponges when you are cleaning your tank or doing a water change. Using the water you have syphoned out of your tank into a bucket or dish pan (you use solely for your fish) gently roll a sponge between your hands and then squeeze the water in and out of the sponge. Then replace back into your tank. These will last 6 months to a year or MORE depending on your tanks and number of fish you have. After many months the suction cups start to loose their suction power and you might find it has come away from your glass... to me it's not a huge deal 'cuz I just stick it back on the glass and it'll hold for a bit longer.P.S. These are perfect to use with a Rechargeable Battery Powered Air Pump in case there is a power outage... glad I have it! I use the AquaMiracle brand and works great.

Product is not worth for Rs. 495 . Only a small size of plastic and sponge.Value of this product would be hardly Rs.50, but selling for Rs. 495 is cheating.

For the $$, these things are great! I have two of these in my 75g, one on each end. These were added to compliment my sump filtration (800ph return pump with 3.5ft lift). I originally started with one and was impressed enough to add a second. I much prefer these over the single large one, these ones even have smaller bubbles compared to the large ones I've had in the past. These hug the wall pretty well, they do not look bulky, and the suction power is more than enough. I run a double out air pump on mine, both blow more than enough bubbles. I've never used sponge filters a lone, I have always used them as a complimentary filter, but I can tell that these draw in debris. . Well worth the $$.
