This kit comes complete with everything but the descaling liquid to cycle through your heater. I admit I'm really bad at remembering to do this, and it is something that should be done at least every year. But when I do think about it, there are no plumbers available and then I forget again. No more! With this awesome kit, I can do it myself and save the money a plumber would charge essentially paying for the kit in one use. The pump is incredibly strong and decisive, so no wimpy flow rate here. The attaching hoses are high quality stainless steel... they even include the bucket and measuring cup for the descaler which as I mentioned you do have to obtain yourself, but easy enough to do at any hardware store. (or make your own) Now I can set a reminder in my calendar once or twice a year and I have everything I need here to make quick work of an important task. We have a pretty high calcium level in our well water, so this is an essential process to keep our tankless heater operating efficiently. Absolutely worth the money, and it will save you hundreds more doing it yourself each year.

This does wonders for my tankless water heater! I have hard well water, even with the filters & water softer the water eventually gets rusty minerals. Come to find out, the tankless water heater needs cleaned occasionally. After using this, all of my problems went away.

Ideally, you should be giving a tankless water heater a cleaning about once a year. Normally, you'd hire a plumber or water heater specialist to do this. In my region (the suburban parts of the Pacific Northwest), this can cost as much as $400. This kit basically lets you do the work yourself and save yourself a couple hundred bucks on the first go-around (with more savings as the years go on). You do have to a) be confident in your abilities with very basic plumbing, and b) be able to follow instructions exactly, but it's not exactly a high-skill procedure. And frankly, as someone who's not done it before, I felt that the instructions that came with this kit were sufficient to get it done.In terms of effectiveness, I think it worked fine. I was doing more preventative maintenance than restorative, so any differences were pretty minimal in terms of what I could see. But the kit did its part without any issues.I do really wish that this kit did come with descaler, because it's *almost* an all-in-one kit. I was actually going back and forth as to whether I should knock off a point for what is basically forcing you to make another purchase. I decided not to because they are VERY clear in the product description - and on the bucket itself - that descaler is not included - so it's not like it's deceptive in any way. And ultimately, it did exactly what it said it would, making a somewhat basic plumbing task much less expensive.

After you struggle long enough to get the lid off this bucket (plan on prying or cutting), you have access to a pretty good kit for flushing a tankless water heater. No descaler is included, so I don't know why a large measuring pitcher is include. I bought gallons of white vinegar instead of a descaler mix. The copper pipes in the tankless water heater turn the vinegar blue after awhile. The instructions are not good. I suggest searching for the steps online. Wash the bucket before using. Run water through the pump and hoses before using. After using, run clean water through the pump and hoses.I would have preferred a submersible pump where the discharge hose connects at the top. The pump in this kit connects on the side, near the very bottom. You have to connect an adapter to the pump before you can connect the cold water (blue trimmed) hose. Thankfully the bucket includes some teflon tape to use to make a good seal. The bucket is big enough for the pump with the stiff hose coming out of the side, but you have to curl the hose inside the bucket unless the adapter just happens to end up tightened while facing upward (and hope it doesn't tighten facing down!). For me, the hose was coming out to the side.I like that the hoses are trimmed with red for hot or blue for cold. Made it easier to be sure I was hooking up the right hose to the correct bypass and the pump. Rather than have the washers for the hoses already install in the ends, where they could fall out and get lost, the washers are twist tied to the hoses. From experience, these hoses are quite stiff but that doesn't keep the return (hot water) hose from escaping from the bucket and spraying substantial amounts of vinegar into the room. Best to plan on staying nearby to monitor the hoses while running the pump. The 4 gallons of vinegar never got hot, but it was in the high end of warm.

Honestly this is simply a cheap submersible pump a bucket and some hose. It doesn’t come with the descaler so you can literally buy that and get all these other elements for less than the price of this kit.Does the kit work? Yes Is it convenient? Yes. But it is essentially a diy setup that someone else put their name on it and sold. I thought this came with a special descaler or something of nature or else I would not have ordered.Simple, Does the job but nothing special that can’t be had for less.Until We Meet Again-Off the Grid Ken
