I thought I'd give this fish tank to my husband for Valentine's Day. He loves tropical fish, but hasn't had a tank for years. We have limited space and this 10 gallon, all-inclusive set looked just about perfect for him to start up his hobby again. It comes with basically everything you need minus the fish, gravel and plants. It saved me from going to the store and trying to figure out what components to buy (and possibly not hitting the mark on any of it) while allowing him to pick and customize the tank decor to his liking. This set looks so impressive with a really nice filter, a heater already preset for tropical fish, a hood and even a fish net. It comes with an easy to read set up guide (not that he really needed it), but great for first time fish owners! He was really impressed with the quality of the components. He remarked that Aqueon was a good and trusted brand and that the tank was well made. He loved the LED lighting in the hood and was excited to get started. Now, my two cents... I don't know much about aquariums, but this was so perfect and packaged SO well. My biggest fear was that it was going to come damaged. It did not. The tank was extremely well protected and the outside box didn't even have a ding on it. I thought the kit was priced fairly well considering the tank was glass, not plastic and such a good brand. You really can't beat the convenience of it all. I might add that we did need to order a stand and I actually paid more for that than the aquarium!I am waiting for hubby to put the stand together, figure out what kind of fish he wants and then I will post some pics of the finished tank.

This set might be nice if you're a beginner and getting a hang of the fish hobby first. You really just need some substrate, decorations and (preferably) life plants, however the light inside the lid isn't super powerful so I'd recommend sticking to medium to low light plants (something like anubias might do well with this).Given some sales you could put this kind of set together yourself for less, but if money isn't a concern and you prefer the convenience this is a nice set. Nice and clean silicone in there which is important to me since I've had experiences with fish pecking at raised silicone if algae builds on it.10 gallons is also the minimum most people should own for something like a single betta (while 5 gallons is minimum for one, why not treat your little friend to 10 gallons? they literally use the entire thing, they explore it all) but it's also okay for some nanofish (not neons imo, those need at least a 20 gallon long). I have Peacock gudgeons in mine that have been laying lots of eggs so they seem quite happy.Overall, decent set, great beginner size tank (the more water the easier to keep parameters stable, folks!) but a bit pricey. Nothing to complain about though if you're new to the hobby.

I got this glass aquarium to replace a plastic one. It was so hard to keep the algae off the walls of the plastic one and difficult to find a good cleaner for it, too, because the algae was deeply embedded. I have great hopes that this glass one will be much easier to keep clean. I have only one Betta fish and one large snail. They are buddies and cohabit well. The snail eats algae and I think it was partly responsible for the problem by keeping the walls scratched up in the other tank. Surely a snail cannot chew up a glass tank! This is a neatly constructed tank with all five surfaces being glass held together with thick silicone caulk and sturdy plastic bars. The glass is not as thick as some aquariums I have had in the past, but this is a smaller tank, so it should be sturdy enough. The glass also allows you to attach the filter assembly and the heater with suction cups—a first for me and so easy to use.The included pump, heater and light hood were very easy to install and all work very well. You do have to make sure you have three electrical outlets available for these. I especially like how compact and easy to maintain the filter/pump is. The filters last for a whole month as opposed to one week as the old one did. The heater does a great job of keeping the water temperature at an even 77 degrees. My Betta loves to rest on the heater and hide behind the filter. The pump is so quiet that all one can hear is the small aerator ball that I like to use with the live plants.I think this would be great for a first time aquarium. The set comes with food and water conditioner. All the extras you need are gravel, plants, fish and maybe a quirky snail. With the very good instructions and simple to use equipment any one would have an easy time of setting up one of these Aqueon aquariums.
