Absolutely no give in the waist and they fit way smaller. Bought large I'm guessing a 2x might be ok.... might ... and I even measured beforebuying

These pants will keep you dry if you can keep them up. The drawstring is useless and there are no belt loops. I would return these if I could.

they were too loose and would not tighten as the elastic --and accessory at the top to tighten pants --was faulty. Looked as if they would have been warm enough for my son. But they just didn't work.
