I was a mechanic and used these daily for about 3 years before the 1/4 broke. Happen to look at the half inch drive and seen it was cracking. Bought two more sets since the price went up. Used them for about year before leaving the industry for good. They are still used often. I will not be giving them up anytime soon. Built tough with a low price tag.

They are just as good as the ones from the tool truck but at a lot lower price. I've used them several times without any problems.

Good enough for non commercial work I don't believe a homeowner could wear these out.

I've put these to work for a while now and they seem tough enough. Great movement on the ball socket. The design flaw is the retainer ring for the pin that keeps the drive end in place. When using an impact the vibration makes it slide down and the pin wants to fall out. I wound up staking my 1/2 to prevent this. I've only used the other on a ratchet but I assume they will have the same issue on an impact

The 1/4" was broken when I opened the box, which was basically open when I opened the package but I dont really care because I basically just bought it for the 1/2" it works great, the only thing to watch is the durability using it on m18 impact wrench that is a bona-fide super freak but it is a great adapter and will be a great addition to my large tool collection

A universal impact extension has a hard life. The 1/2 inch gets used the most often on a Milwaukee Fuel high torque impact gun. That gun is a beast and will quickly show you the quality of any sockets or extensions you use with it. The 1/2 inch extension has held up great to that gun. The 3/8 is used on a 3/8 Milwaukee impact and has also held up very well. That gun isn't anywhere near as violent as the 1/2 inch gun but it's no slacker. I wouldn't use the 3/8 and 1/4 inch sizes with reducing adapters if you have a powerful 1/2 inch impact gun. I wouldn't do that with snap on swivels either unless I had to. And I would use a face shield to protect me from the imminent shrapnel.

looked high and low for a full set of universal ball joints (1/2, 3/8, and 1/4) and then found this set by Ares Tool.i haven't used them as impact sockets yet, but i love these joints as good swivels. the box based joints tend to lock up when trying to use them also especially with long extensions the box joints tend to flop over and make it difficult to use, THESE DO NOT have this issue being ball joints they only turn 30-45 degrees (estimated) from center. the 1/2 and 3/8 work great as i have already started using them as i'm helping rebuild and engine (for the reasons above). and on the 3/8 i have used about 2 feet of extensions to get some serious leverage and it did not even show signs of braking which is nice. (i have twisted a block joint before while it was cheap)the 1/4 i haven't used yet, but it seems to be build well and is small enough to fit in my Things to improve:1. the packaging, first time i ordered only received 2 of 3, with amazon's help i got a free replacement with free shipping (Thanks Live Chat). the replacement came with everything, but the plastic holding the sockets together was broken even though it was packaged nicely (Joints were fine) but was a little telling on how the first was received missing one.2. the websitetried to register (as if i brake them i would like to be able to get a replacement) website was broken, i am currently a few emails deep with someone from ares about the website and the few issues I have had and they seem to be fixing it as we go so it should be some what decent in the future.3. warranty clarificationasked about the warranty and they said to send them a picture of the problem and they will send a replacement, but would also like to know about the length of the warranty and it actually posted on their website somewhere. hoping it is a lifetime warranty as most places have those.ps. i did look at O'Reilly Auto Parts which did have a 1/4" (the hardest to find) but the other joints they had were goofy and turn in to extensions instead of swivel, then if you put a lot of force it will pop out and turn to a swivel, but i did not like it. also was more expensive then the set here.
