Besides big and heavy the rest is really nice, has ffp and can see crosshairs better, crosshairs look great, lighted recticle is nice to have also side focus. Lens clear and normally 50mm I need large rings but believe could get by with medium rings.

this is my first scope that i have gotten with adjustable dials, and i am extremely happy with it. it is bright and clear and works from it's bottom to it's top magnification. my only complaint is that the light up reticle is hard to see and not very bright.

I have a few other Athlon scopes on various rifles, along with Vortex, Burris, and one older Weaver Micro-track 36-power long-range target scope. I have always been impressed with the Athlon's optics. For the money, they're hard to beat. Even the "cheaper" 4 X12 one I have on my B-Mag 17 WSM is impressive for a simple duplex reticle I still get regular hits on small targets out to 250 yards. Decent stuff.

You can't beat Athlon when it comes to value for money. The scopes have a very good build quality, they function exactly as advertised, and are very cheap for what you get. I have multiple athlon optics on multiple different rifles and they all hold zero fantastic and the side parallax adjustment lets you get great focus on the fly. Super accurate and FFP is definitely a plus. I will be purchasing more athlon optics for my future builds

My favorite low cost scope. Reticle is very clear, parallax/side focus works well and you'll end up with a very clear target image. Adjusters click crisply and are easy to remove them so as to move the zero marking to the rifle's zero. The illum levels work well, as does the knob.I sent a more expensive scope back to it's manufacturer because it presented an insufficiently clear image at high mag. Then I bought another Athlon Argos to replace it.

It pains me to write this review because I literally haven't been able to evaluate a brand new, functional scope!Almost a month ago, I decided to order an Athlon Argos 6-24X50 BTR Gen 2 scope. After waiting a week, the first scope arrived. I got it all mounted to my rifle and when I went to adjust the diopter, parts of the reticle were in focus, and parts were not. Recognizing this as a defect, I ordered a second scope. It too, took a week to arrive. When the second scope arrived, the elevation turret was not centered in its adjustment range. Importantly, Athon states in their product literature that all of their scopes ship with the turrets centered. And, there was a scratch on the side of the scope tube right where the rings come together. This was obviously someone's return that was boxed up and put back into inventory and sold to me as new. The good thing is, the reticle was clear and in sharp focus, but another issue is the illumination knob has a gritty, clunky feeling to it that the first scope did not (probably the reason this was returned by whoever bought it first). After the second bad scope, I emailed Athlon Optics and explained the situation, and they told me they had no control over what retailers do with their products. So, they really squandered an opportunity to provide good customer service. So, I returned the first scope and waited for THAT return to arrive. It arrived today, which is now nearly a month after I first placed an order for a (new in box) scope. As soon as I opened the package, I immediately noticed there is a scratch on the side of this scope as well, and again, the elevation turret was not centered in the adjustment range. I got ANOTHER RETURN SOLD AS NEW!So I started another return for the one that arrived today, but this time instead of ordering a replacement, I requested a refund. I am still trying to decide if I should ask for a replacement or a refund on the other order that arrived scratched and is also obviously someone else's return. All I really wanted (almost a month ago) was a brand new, undamaged scope. But so far, out of the three that I have been shipped NONE OF THEM are new and undamaged.I tried calling customer service. I got a recording that was totally unhelpful. I asked it to connect me to a real person, who was unable to clearly communicate with me about the issue, and I gave up trying. I was trying to explain that I still wanted to order one of these, but that I wanted some kind of assurance that I would ONLY be shipped a brand new, never before opened product. It was a fruitless conversation. This entire experience has been a terrible waste of my time. I wish I had ordered from somewhere else to ensure that I got a brand new, undamaged item.

For the price this thing is great. I took a vortex pst gen 2 off my rifle knowing how well it groups with a good scope and slapped this one on to compare. Shoots the same groups. Only downside is the field of view is significantly smaller than a better quality scope. Glass is clear. The reticle is good. I don’t like the center crosshair it’s way too large and if you’re trying to be precise like I am it might cover the whole target. At 1k yards the center cross covers a clay pigeon or soda can at 1k yards. I didn’t understand how to set up the turret at the range as I sighted one the rifle set the zero stop and went to dial for 1k and it only went to 8moa and stopped. I actually had to take off the turret and spin the black piece to the other side and reinstall the turret for me to be able to dial correctly. I didn’t read the manual so DONT take it out on the scope for my negligence lol. My howa 1500 6mm creedmoor with 20moa base I can dial up to 60moa of elevation and hold over the rest. Overall it’s a great budget scope for the price just don’t compare it to something more expensive. The zero stop is an awesome feature for the price it’s a true zero stop not the hard to set shims like old vortex scopes. The turret clicks are super tactical and crisp not soft and mushy like I thought they would be. I have a vortex diamondback tactical and although In terms of optical clarity I might lean towards the vortex scope but everything else this scope is twice as good as the vortex. I don’t think any scope on the market will compare to this scope at the price it is
