  • Unique design locks the adapters, cone and tube in a perfect line with less risk of breaking adapters
  • The clamp and set screws put pressure directly over the tube reducing the chance of the tube slipping from the clamp; This increases the overall life of the clamp by not wearing down the teeth inside from repeated slipping
  • The slender, low-profile design of this tool allows the user to make flares on the vehicle and in tight spaces
  • Flares can be achieved along frame rails or areas in the engine compartment, saving the user time from having to remove components or complete lines to make repairs
  • Set includes everything needed to do the following: 3/16", 1/4", 5/16 and 3/8" double and single flares; 4. 75mm 6mm and 8mm double, bubble and single flares

I spent a silly amount of money on this tool set because it allegedly does DIN/ISO bubble flares. Well, it doesn't. It just mangles the end of the tube. It does fine single and double flares, but so does my $25 parts store inline double flaring tool I've been using for a decade with no issues.Oh, the deburring tool is so dull it's next to useless, too.Save your money, don't buy this.

I purchased this for the express purpose of double flaring 5/16 transmission lines on my truck. Not only will it not make a double flare you cant even get a single flare out if it. The die WILL NOT hold the tubing no matter how tight you get it. Even used C clamps vice grips and a vise. I am an experienced mechanic and have made thousands of double flares. I have used ATD tools for years. This did not live up to the quality I expect from ATD. Complained to the company and got Zero response. Don't waste your time Don't waste your money read my comment and others just like mine that I ignored because I trusted the ATD brand...

I wasn't too sure about these when I saw them. Ordered because I have to flare lines on vehicles a lot. I used them the first time the day I recieved them. I like these a lot! The only thing I can suggest is to get stronger screws for it. The first time I tightened it down. I got new bolts and still giving it five stars.

Great design. Could be made better. This tool claims that the flaring process will not push the tubing through the die. After 2 flares on 3/8 steel brake line, the grippers in the die were damaged and the tubing just pushes through. May work way better on smaller line, where less force is required. The design holds the inner adapter for the first flare perfectly centered and square, allowing a perfect flare.

I was replumbing brake lines for a 1967 Mustang disk-brake conversion and this was a lifesaver! For starters, you can use the tool for lines that are in-place on the car (although it takes a lot of work to do so and I'd recommend on a bench if at all possible). This kit made a huge difference in ability to form the all-important brake-line "double flare" properly. I was struggling with the corrosion-resistant coated lines and this tool made short work of them. Definitely worth the price as I'm certain I would not have been able to finish the project without it.

This is a pretty good set and worth the money. It's much better than the traditional bar type flare tool and this will work in tight spaces. I actually ruined a die. Long story but it was completely my fault, but the dies are made of soft steel (the dies in all sets look that way I don't think it's a problem with ATDs set). The good news is I was able to find a replacement ATD die online so being able to find parts easily is a plus for me.Here is my method for flaring that I decided to use after practicing with the tool some, but follow ATDs directions, practice, and find your own method. For Double Flare1. Cut tubing. Hold tubing upside down and deburr and chamfer the end (this helps shavings fall out of tubing).2. Insert tubing in the die. Alternate tightening of die screws. Use the flaring adapter as a spacer for how far tubing extends from die (Diagram 1)3. Back hex yoke screw far out of hex yoke so it will thread on the die (If the hex yoke doesn’t thread on by hand something is wrong don’t force it with a wrench). Lubricate both sides of the flaring adapter with silicon grease. Place flaring adapter stem into tubing. Hand tighten (do not use a wrench) hex yoke onto die (Diagram 2).4. Grip hex yoke with 7/8” wrench and turn hex yoke screw with 9/16” socket or wrench. Do not over tighten. Grip ratchet near its head so you can’t use too much torque. Just tighten until firm (Diagram 3).5. Take off hex yoke and examine the bell shape formed in tubing.6. Remove flaring adapter. Lubricate point of hex yoke screw with silicon grease and reinstall hex yoke.7. Tighten hex yoke screw firmly again. Then back screw off and inspect flare*Tightening Tip: As the hex yoke screw is tightening you will need to apply a constant amount of torque as the flare is being formed. Turn the screw slowly and pay attention to the torque you are using. When you feel the torque needed to turn the screw suddenly increase you know that your flare is finished.

I bought this to replace an old bar-style flaring tool that was just too worn out to work anymore. I am not an expert with these tools, but have used them often enough that I know what to look for. The first double flare I made with this tool was WAY over flared. It took me about three tries to get the feel for it.There are a couple reasons I had trouble. First, the tool does not have a handle, so you have to use another tool to tighten it. I used a box-end wrench, which gave me a lot more torque that I am used to using on the t-handle style tools. I suggest using a t-handle socket or tap wrench. The second issue I had was that I could not see the flare while it was forming. The way this tool works, it is completely hidden. This is not a big problem, but it does mean that you have to go completely by feel.I was able to get this tool into all the tight spots on the vehicle without any trouble. The inside deburring tool worked great, just wish they had included an outside tool as well.Overall, a good tool that got the job done.
