A-Team's Harmonic Balancer Installation tool is the tool for trouble-free installation of harmonic balancers to crankshafts. Very easy to use, avoids costly damage to thrust bearings and crankshaft snouts that may be caused from hammering the balancer into place.
This tool presses the balancer squarely onto the crank snout, thanks to a threaded steel pilot and a sealed ball bearing. A black finish protects the hardened steel surfaces.
- GEN I Small Block Chevrolet or other with 7/16 "-20 crank thread
- Not for LT (Gen II) or LS series engines
- Not for 1997 and up

This tool must be hardened steel as huge force is applied to it on installing the balancer. As this was not hardened steel the spindle stripped half way through the job.

Tried to used this harmonic balancer installer on my 327 small block Chevy. Halfway through installing the balancer, the nut seized up and wouldn't turn. Threads were oiled before I started but it made no difference, it might as well be welded on there. If you need one of these, go ahead and bite the bullet and spend the money for a good one. It will save you a lot of aggravation in the long run. Had to return it for a refund.

As far as the negative reviews for this item, it sounds like people are inexperienced with rebuilding engines. Don't blame the tool if you misused it.Worked better than the one it replaced. The bearing let's you feel exactly when the balancer seats.

Haven't used this tool yet but I can tell it's high quality. Heavy well made. I have used these before and this one gets an A. Hope it fits my 93 but I'll will keep it anyway. Love good tools.

Work perfectly to install the damper on my 327. Also used it on my 355 sbc. It's a shame that a tool to use only a handful of times is this expensive. But once you have it you have it it sure beats banging a damper on with a sledgehammer and risking damaging your crankshaft and bearings

Worked great, I do not install balancers every day. But beats beating them on with a hammer. Had to chase threads with a die for smooth push, with some grease.
