Last, was ca. 2,5 mW (milliWatt) Leistung ergibt.

Consigliatissimo.

This Audirect ATOM3 Decoding Headphone Amplifier looks and feels well built. It ships in a plastic case with a foam insert that keeps the amplifier intact. I read a bit about the ESSS9280 AC PRO Chip and so I wanted to try this out. However, I have tried this now on on multiple devices and I can't seem to get clean audio from it. The audio sounds thin, like when an audio jack to a headphone or speaker is not fully plugged in. There is a good chance, that I'm not using this correctly, still I have now tried this on a phone, a tablet, and a laptop with no joy. I will keep tinkering with this, and will update this review if I discover user error on my part.

First impression with ATH-M40X over ear. It sounds good. Can't hear any hiss, or buzz. Super clear. With some earbud/IEMs I notice a slight pop when audio cuts in and out. Could get annoying in some workflows. It is pretty small, but since the USB C is offset it tends to stick out above or below an average phone. The case is aluminum. It weighs in at just 3.8g.I tried popping off the case cover, and pushing on the USB port to pop the module out, but it seems well secured. I'm going to leave it, because I only expect to find the ESS chip, LED, some capacitors, and maybe a couple voltage regulators. When I used this with a headset (earbuds with integrated mic/buttons) the buttons and mic only worked if I plugged the headset in before plugging the module into my phone. The mic had a noticeable constant hiss, but I only have one headset to try it out with so that may be down to my mic.Works on Android, Linux, Windows, ChromeOS, and even my older Mac (Mojave/10.14).The USB connector has some allowance for phone cases, but I still had to carve a little notch out on my thickest phone case to let it seat fully. There is a red LED when the output is active. It's pretty well recessed, and just shines through a small hole so it is not annoying.Power draw seemed tiny. I found 0.01A standby, 0.03A idle, up to 0.05A max (laptop was supplying 5.13V).

This is a tiny USB-C DAC designed for plugging into a computer or mobile device. It supports hi resolution formats including DSD up to DSD512. Output is to a 3.5mm jack socket. I tested it using Shure earphones and was immediately impressed with the sound; it improved on the built-in DAC in a Sony digital Walkman that I use. An LED shows the mode of the DAC.The device will appeal to listeners who are willing to put up with the inconvenience of a wired connection for the sake of better sound – and testing this reminded me of how much better it can be, with a crispness, depth and clarity that even my best wireless earphones lack. I also tried the DAC with Sennheiser HD600 headphones and while the sound was reasonable it is not powerful enough to drive them properly.Match this DAC with a suitable set of high quality earphones though and the sound is great; I just wanted to keep listening. It is not quite at the level of the best high-end players but considering its budget price and the handy small size it is excellent and easily good enough to bring out the benefit of wired sound.
