About this item

  • Authentic Easy Wood Tools Ci2-R2-NR Patented Negative Rake Carbide Cutter - Fits Easy Wood Tools Easy Start, Mini and Mid-Size Roughers
  • Designed specifically for turning man-made resins, acrylics and extreme hardwoods. It is a "Game Changer" for turning these materials. The EWT Patented Negative Rake Cutters have virtually eliminated catches and tear-out whilst turning expensive blanks. Also leaves ultra-smooth finish = less sanding!
  • Just like our Standard Cutters, when one side of the cutter gets dull, simply turn it to a new side and continue turning. When all sides are used, you just replace the cutter. You'll devote more time to turning instead of wasting hours sharpening your tools, and you'll save money in the long run, too.
  • Also works great for final passes on any type of wood...which equals less sanding
  • Designed and Manufactured 100% in the USA

The Easy Wood Tools Ci2-R2-NR square negative rake carbide cutter with a 2" radius is designed to fit Mid, Mini, and Easy Start Easy Wood Roughers, delivering exceptional performance for turning acrylics, hard exotic woods, and end grain. Engineered with precision, it ensures clean cuts and an extended edge life. Easy Wood Tools' carbide cutters stand out due to the carefully balanced combination of **Grade, Grind, and Geometry (3G’s)**. This cutter uses the optimal grade of carbide, combining tungsten powder and cobalt to create the sharpest and longest-lasting edge. The grind process is carried out with precision CNC grinders to maintain true, flat surfaces and reduce micro chipping. The geometry is tailored for safe and efficient woodturning for all skill levels. A replacement 4-40 countersink machine screw is included for convenience, ensuring easy installation and use. Choose Easy Wood Tools for durability, precision, and a superior woodturning experience. 1) **The Right Grade:** Our carbide is a carefully balanced fusion of tungsten powder and cobalt, with the cobalt-to-tungsten ratio and particle size collectively known as the 'grade.' Authentic EWT Carbide cutters strike the perfect balance, resulting in a cutting edge that is both the keenest and the most durable for woodturning, utilizing the latest carbide technology.
2) **The Right Grind:** Each cutter undergoes precision grinding on super rigid CNC grinders to prevent micro chipping. We employ the correct grit diamond wheels, ensuring the flattest, truest surfaces with minimal grinding scratches. The grinding sequence is meticulously followed to bring the edge to peak sharpness, preventing any micro chipping of the cutting edges.
3) **The Right Geometry:** EWT cutters are ground to precise angles and geometries tailored for woodturning. This ensures a cutting edge that not only cuts cleanly but also safely, catering to all skill levels. Harmony in grade, grind, and geometry is the key to achieving high-performance woodturning. Included with the cutter is a replacement 4-40 countersink machine screw, enhancing the convenience of your woodworking experience. Choose authenticity, precision, and durability with the Easy Wood Tools Ci2-R2-NR carbide cutter – setting the standard for excellence in woodturning.

I was nervous to purchase this because I always liked seeing the tips before I bought them but this was in perfect condition and cuts great!

I bought this from this seller even though their price was a little higher since it included prime shipping. With the companies that sell it for slightly less you end up paying more since shipping is extra. It arrives in the two days. The cutter fit perfectly in my Carbide Magic Pen Genie and it came with the identical screw as well. It did an excellent job of cutting my hardened Liquid Diamonds Epoxy leaving it very smooth. No catching like the standard cutters. I am very satisfied with the purchase though they are not cheap.

The negative rake cutters make turning acrylic even easier. Your blank has a more polished finished as soon as your done turning. I think they the entire process quicker and more efficient.

These NR cutters are the only cutters to use in acrylic blanks and turning with Easy Wood tools. I worked 5 hours on the lathe today with not one catch, not one after installing them HIGHLY recommend. I bought another set for my full size tools.

I like the negative rake cutters, smooth to use, and so far, no digging in...I bought both round and square...mounted both on 3/8” tool steel, put both in aluminum handles...nice tools, and i’ve used them a lot

Cracking little tip - works really well on epoxy resin - no chip out. Would easily give it 5 stars but it seems may be getting dulled faster than the equivalent square tip (might be using it more harshly, though). For purists, the negative rake is a bit of a misnomer as it has a negative face angle, but no burr, nevertheless what's in a name? It works better than equivalent non-NR tips on resin and resin-wood hybrids.
