I bought a round carbide cutter a decade ago. The cutter itself is much thicker than exiting ones. The profile is also different. Finding a replacement means I did not have to buy a new tool just for the replaceable blade.

after a 40 year lathe layoff i'm getting back into it. i think that there is a learning curve for using this as it has a tendency to dig in if i try to take too much material. i think that it will be fine once i master it's use.

I have the Harrison Specialties captive hollowing system and use it for smaller turnings on my Jet 1642. I've been turning for a couple of years now (having done flat work for 40+ years).I bought the Harrison product because of cost and reviews, and recently added the swan neck tool for smaller openings. I bought the replacement cutter here on Amazon because it's a bit cheaper and ships free with Prime but still through Harrison Specialties.It's a great replacement part and lasts a good long time in my experience. Clean, chatter free finishes on everything I've turned so far, including both some hard exotics and some punky spalted wood too.I normally don't care for the carbide tools at all and mostly use my Ellsworth PM gouges and a bunch of the Doug Thompson tools, but these are made for the hollowing system and they're doing a good job of swaying me. A great replacement for the Rockler carbide turning tool. I don't know why they stopped selling this replacement cutter. It seems to be pretty high in demand plus the cutting tool they were selling was at a really good price. Doesn't make much sense to me. But there may have been other reasons that we will never know.

I have this cutter tip and the Simple Shear Cutting Finisher - Carbide Wood Turning tool, its a nice tool and it cuts well, but I can only give it 2 starsits not a cheep tool $75 and this is the only carbide that will fit this tool. I have a couple of carbide top tools with different tips that will fit.Again this tool has one carbide TIP that will fit this tool, this is the reason for the 2 stars..

Superior quality,cuts like a knife through butter.I turn a lot of bowls and not having to sharpen my tools really let's me do more of what I like.i mark the last portion of the cutter I used with a magic marker,then loosen the cutter and turn it ever so slightly and walla!,I have a new razor sharp cutting surface that lasts and lasts.

I bought a carbide cutter wood turning tool from Rocker a few years ago.. I LOVE THAT TOOL! I use it for getting a smooth as a baby's bottom on nearly any type of wood. It shaves wood whisker hair thin. Rocker recently discontinued making the tool, (and the replacement insert) I looked for a replacement elsewhere and came up with Harrison Tools. I ordered one to see if it would fit.. IT DOES.. I ordered 5 more and no shipping cost. It is a tool that I love and to be able to get replacement inserts is a great feeling for me. I found it a couple other places, but to me seemed overpriced... and shipping is free over 35.00... so this is a great deal, no problem ordering, and came F A S T !! Thanks for helping a wood-turner continue to be able to use a tool that is a great addition to my wood-turning tool chest. If you have a Rockler carbide tool (old discontinued style with the looooong handle) don't be afraid of ordering.. they fit and they work..Thanks again for continuing to make a product that will keep a lot of guys happy....with this tool you either love it or hate it.. I'm on the fave side of things.. so I'm sure I'll be ordering more replacements..
