A compact, neat solution for splitting audio from a HDMI source. Great if you want to easily get audio to a stereo system or surround sound setup.The box arrives in a zip-sealed bubble envelope. There's also a USB to DC power cable included, and a set of instructions.The box is really nicely made, with a metal chassis. It's a lot smaller than I was expecting, which is good as it takes up less space behind the TV.It's quick and easy to get set up. One thing you will have to consider is where you're going to get power from. No wall plug is included, so you'll either have to find one or use a spare USB outlet on a TV or power strip.You simply plug the source HDMI in one side, and then connect the other side to your TV. You then have the choice of connecting stereo RCA or optical cables, which you can hook up to speakers, a stereo system or surround sound amp. There's a little toggle switch to select between 2 channel stereo, 5.1 audio or pass through.I used the box to connect my TV to an old stereo system, and it worked perfectly. I couldn't hear any buzz or interference, which is good, and the HDMI picture to the TV was unaffected.If you're looking for a quick and easy way to extract HDMI audio, then this is a decent choice.

I had to hunt high and low for a HDMI splitter where the audio output was RCA plugs and not TOSLINK. NOT that's there's anything wrong wit TOSLINK connections, but you are of course limited to and required to have a optical connection on the receiving device, and where this was needed, that wasn't possible.So enter this. And it did exactly what I needed it to: Split the audio out of the HDMI cable. Actually, it duplicated it--and that may matter for your application--so the HDMI Out connection is still carrying the audio. That didn't bother me, but it might bother you. Overall, though, it works great, and simply works--you plug what you need in, and get what you need out. No ARC connection required. No optical connection required.It's a great value for what it delivers, in a very small footprint device. If it has any drawback, the power cord is very very very short. It would be nicer/more flexible if the cord were longer. But that's a minor quibble. It does what you need it to do.

Setup was a breeze and in under 5 minutes it was up and working flawlessly. The size is about the same as other similar devices so if you have a few converters they should stack nicely. This device handles older equipment smoothly, unlike cheaper alternatives. The reliable performance, all metal chassis, and ease of use make it worth the investment. Picture quality is good and the connectivity options are there except for a 3.5mm jack which would be nice to have. Highly recommended.

The box, pulls out the Audio from a HDMI signal and passes it to both standard audio RCA jacks (Analog) and SPDIF Optical TOSLINK (Digital) to connect to a (standard) stereo receiver/amp. Many (most) modern AV receivers have processing logic for the SPDIF (Sony/Philips Digital Interface) signal (aka Dolby, et al). Good quality, easy to setup & install, in just a few minutes, it was up and working. I already had a Optical (digital) cable, one was not included.

This 4K HDMI has a pass through which allow audio extraction in real time. Extracted audio is output via SPDIF Optical or RCA analog. Audio can be extracted as 2 channel analog or 5.1 digital. SPDIF supports 2ch PCM, 5.1ch Dolby Digital, DTS, however, Dolby Atmos is not supported. RCA out only supports 2ch only.The 2ch analog produces a clean, clear sound. I connected the RCA analog to a tape deck and successfully recorded great music from movie soundtracks.The only downside is it does not support for 4K 60hz. It only supports 30 Hz.Despite not having 4K 60Hz support, the extracted audio is clean. For the price of $19.99, it's a great value

Generally, this does a good job. It is essentially a HDMI audio splitter, copying the audio stream out to either RCA jacks for SP/DIF. For situations like mine where I need an analog audio stream, it works well.Pros:Good construction, including a metal caseNice layout of the cables, with all the inputs on one side and all the outputs on the other.Audio sounds goodAudio continues to go to the HDMI output cable, too.Cons:The power cable on the device's power supply is only 2 feet. Many people will need extension cords.The RCA audio output is about 10db softer than the HDMI, requiring a little more volume from the ampI wish the case provided some mounting options (flanges with screw holes, keyholes on the bottom side, or something). This device will often be sitting behind an amp, and the owner may not just want to have it laying loose or hanging on the end of it's cables.

This is a handy tool for getting audio out of an HDMI video stream, when your equipment doesn't support audio out. Many Monitor/TV combo displays do not have a way to output stereo audio, so you cannot connect them to an external sound system. If you are unsatisfied with the built in speaker of the display, you can still route audio to your high fidelity speaker system with the help of this device. Super easy to use, just plug and play, and you'll have standard analog stereo audio outputs, for Left and Right channels, which can go right into any amplifier. I did not use the SPDIF, as I don't use any optical communication with my audio gear, but I do not doubt that it works, as the rest of the unit is very solid, built like a tank, and introduces no noticeable lag in the HDMI video output. I like this bit of tech as it seems to be able to interface new tech with legacy items that I have around the house.I still have hifi dating back to the 80's which I enjoy listening to, in particular my pre amp/power amp combo which is made by Rotel and I do miss the sound it produces. Sadly it has no digital inputs.This audio extractor makes pairing my modern disc players with my old amp and it does this with one HDMI to the box and the old style phono plugs into the input of my amp and that is pretty much it.The only thing I was concerned with this process would be the quality of the digital to analogue conversion which would be done using this extractor. Thankfully this worry was time wasted as it actually is pretty good and balanced.What this kit allowed me to do is to be able to use my lovely old amp again. Further, due to the digital output as well, this can easily be used to feed in the signal from any HDMI to my av amp that has SPDIF input but no HDMI. A lot of players dont seem to have SPDIF outputs so this kit solves this problem as well.I guess the flexibility it provides means that it can be used in many future scenarios.As for the cost, around the £24 price point, I feel this is good value for the number of scenarios it can cover.

I ordered this to extract audio from my HDMI capture to feed the audio into OBS separately.OBS has a bug that can cause audio lag when capturing audio along with video from a capture device. I suffer from this bug. To solve this, I have been using a HDMI audio extractor to input the sound from the captured HDMI into the line input of my streaming PC. This solves the issue.The issue with the other HDMI audio extractors I have tried is that you need to pass HDMI THROUGH it. Without an HDMI device connected to the output, they don't work. I want to use the passthrough of the capture device to extract the audio. I do not want to go through an extractor THEN to the capture device. I want the extractor AFTER the capture device. The more devices the signal goes through, the more chance of signal degradation.This is the first extractor that I have tested that actually works WITHOUT a device connected to the output. I am able to connect from the PC to the capture device, then connect this extractor to the passthrough output of the capture device. It also has optical AND analog out, so I do not have to use an additional optical to analog converter. The less cables and devices the signals go through the better.If you are wanting to extract the audio stream from an HDMI source, THIS IS THE ONE! It even supports 5.1!

I am very impressed by the build quality of this device, with a solid metal case and quality connectors. I like the purple colour, which is more subtle than it looks on the web page. The included user manual is adequate if a little basic. The power cable is missing from the pack. Luckily I have a suitable power cable from another avedio product. You need to provide your own standard USB power supply, with a USB A port.The device passed through HD video from a Firestick, the picture quality on my Dell monitor was fine. The audio extraction worked first time. I set the avedio device to 2CH, the Firestick to LCP 2 channel audio, the streaming service to stereo output, and used the analogue output from the RCA connectors. I am very pleased with the quality of the sound when played through my Dali Katch G2 speaker.I have now tested two audio extractors from avedio. While the first one did not work, this device deserves recognition for its ease of use and performance using the analogue outputs. I have not checked the optical audio output. I have docked a star for the missing power cable. This product is definitely worth taking a look.

This has been working great for my projector. I needed a solution to play the sound through my AV amp when using the projector as the sound from the projector speakers is so bad so with this I’m now splitting the main TV input into this box then a wireless HDMI to the projector, the audio output then goes into the aux input of my amp so I don’t need the TV on as well to play the sound. Works well.The box is sturdy and it doesn’t get hot or anything so I’ve hidden it behind the TV.Good solution.

The audio extractor works well. A corple of things to note after testing it:1- The HDMI out is audio only,2. The audio output is selectable but not simultaneous. l.e. It will output from the optical, RCA'S, or HDMI but only one at a time.
